Well, being a clean freak and neatnik, I am always looking for some new kind of cleaner. I have the orange ones, the green ones, the purple ones, and most of the new ones. But I am usually disappointed.
Today I bought Easy Off BAM that I saw on TV. All I can say is wow. It is for grime and soap scum. It REALLY works. All day I have been spraying it on everything, and it works on everything.
I know we're not supposed to advertise stuff here, but this is great!
Anyone else have any good cleaning tips?

B, is it for all surfaces? Cool I will get some. I tend to use a lot of vinegar for cleaning and laundry.

FF- Well, I have been putting it on everything. The directions say you should test it first. But when I saw how good it did on my stove, shower, faucets, counter, and rangehood, I went wild.

Well cleaning is NOT my thing, but I am a sucker for advertisements so I will own it shortly. LOL
My only good tip is Barkeeps Helper. I LOVE it. It is a granual and works wonders on copper, as well as bathtubs, sinks and countertops.
My other great tip that I just read about but haven't tried yet is for cleaning silver jewelry. Place a piece of tinfoil, bright side up in a container of water, put in your silver on top and the tinfoil is supposed to attract the tarnish. Hmmmm... we'll see.

Weaver, I was looking at barkeepers helper. Is it mild? I have my overpriced brushed nickle faucets in our new addition and am looking for something to keep them nice. Also, looking for something to keep DD's glass shower clean.

Weaver - I may pick up the barkeepers helper. Right now I'm too busy cleaning floors, cabinets, walls, etc. YIKES! I've almost used up the whole can.

Yes, it's very mild. I use it on brass faucets and porcelain and copper. I love it.

When you wash your car, DO NOT use dish soap. It removes the clear-coat on your paint. Use a car wash soap that is designed for clear coat finishes.
It's important to clean your car inside and out and under the hood to preserve it's looks as well as make it easier to maintain. Not to mention, if your car looks good, you are less likely to make the often financially disasterous decision of trading it for a new shiney car with empty ashtrays
Oh, and check your oil everytime you stop for fuel. Oil lubricates, cools and CLEANS the insides of your engine. If you are low on oil or go too long between changes, that helpful oil can turn into engine killing sludge.
So, how's that for a couple of cleaning tips from this man

PS, I've found it's much easier to just hire a cleaner to come in twice a month and hit the house hard for 4 hours.
Whatever they use is working

Oh gracious, should have known a man would come on with the "change the oil" speach. I drive a 1990 chevy blazer so I am with you all the way though.
And I do agree with hiring a cleaning person. I like your thinking!

Confused - Yep. Leave it to a man to bring up cleaning the car and changing the oil. I used to think as long as the car was running, things were okay. After a couple mechanic bills, I figured that one out.
Binder - You are just too funny. What's up with you guys?

My best cleaning tip is for cooking.
Clean as you go. Don't leave cans, boxes, etc on the counter. Throw it away, put it in the dishwasher, or put it away when you are done with it.
That leaves a lot less work when you have the lazagna in the oven. All you have to do is take it out and serve.
Oh, and have a great dishwasher than can clean anything

Confused - I love to cook and ALWAYS clean as I go. Then I serve up the meal, and wash the dishes right away, so I'm ready for the next meal. I hate cooking in a messy kitchen.
Today I went and bought another BAM can. So much to do, and so little time.

Hi B,
I didn't know there was actually someone who might like to clean more than I do! LOL
My cleaning tip is to make cleaning a *way of life*.If you incorporate it into your life as something that just must be done, like brushing teeth, then it may just become habit. It has for me but I also really enjoy having a clean home, especially for my girls.
I used to have a friend whose home was so messy you literally had to step over things just to get to the couch and sit down.I was horrified the first time I was there.Stacks and stacks of books, papers, clothes, junk everywhere.I do not know how people can live that way.The woman and her husband were writers and even their offices were a total mess.I don't know how they accomplished anything.
One other cleaning tip: if your home isn't too messy and you don't need some major industrial strength cleaners,I like Williams-Sonoma cleaners with essential oils. They smell great, especially the hand soap and lotions.I change fragrances about once a month. This month is Valencia Orange.
