Last night I had a conversation with my husband. We started the conversation with me asking him to go to church with me and the kids. On Wenesday nights at my church they have been doing these classes on marriage, kids, etc. Why we do the things we do, ways to change the cycle of generations of habits. I still haven't been able to convince him to go with me yet but I am going to keep trying. I did bring some of what I found out into our conversation last night. This man said that one of the main reasons that people form addictions is because of the inability to connect as children. Whether that be because of strict parenting or he listed a few other reasons. But I saw the connection to my husband. He loves our kids deeply so I shared with him some the things that we talked about at church. I know he heard what I said. I am hoping that he takes it and thinks about it in the next few days. I told him that it usually gets passed from generation to generation and how I didn't want that for our kids. He is by no means the way his faher was with him but there is still the inability to connect to our kids because when he's off "doing his thing" he is not at home where he should be. I shared all of this with him last night in a way that didn't point fingers. I hope i am keeping on the right track with him. Self doubt is a horrible emotion. Please continue to pray for me.

I think you took a big step towards a healthy family last night. Continue going to church even if your H does not go.
I'm praying for you, Hon!
