Thanks for the offer. I could use the help, things are really piling up on me at work today.

My thoughts are that a more "family" oriented place might suffice, especially if they have a separate dining room. I'm thinking of something like Famous Dave's (bbq), Sonny's (also bbq), or Folks (Southern cookin'). I've called the Folks on Lavista Road (Tucker) and they have a separate room, but they won't reserve it on weekends.

Also, I've tried Sonny's, but they don't have a separate room.

I think (?) that all of us could agree that a family-oriented, moderately priced place might be preferable if we could meet the following conditions:

- near I-285 (north side)
- quiet and conducive to conversation
- kid friendly
- economical (<$15.00 / person)

I'm sure that any of us would be willing to bend our tastes just a little for our fellow MB'ers if need be to accomodate others.

Can you work with this a bit?

Oh...and to assure that Mrs. Wonderings concerns are adequately addressed.

My inlaws live in the area so I have asked them for suggestions. My BIL works as a bartender at Chili's on Ashford Dunwoody. Not sure if we would get a discount but probably get special treatment not sure though. Anyway still looking.

Here are some suggestions from my BIL.

"let me think, around perimeter, there is max & erma's has the room set off from the rest of the dining room, remember? that is kinda close to 285. fudruckers is right there behind besy buy on hammond. that would probably be a good bet because it is fairly inexpensive and there is the arcade that the kids could play in and it is most of the time fairly quiet in there. there are not alot of lower priced resturants around there now that i think about it, most are raising prices. yeah i cant think of much more. you are right about chili's tho, it can get pretty loud on a sunday and pretty busy. but let me know if those suggestions help. if i think of anymore i will let you know"

There is an Applebee's off of Roswell Rd. It is easily accessible to GA 400. They don't have a Private Room either though.

Is there still a Three Dollar Cafe off of Roswell Road near the El Azteca?? That's a fun place....or a Taco Mac??

there is Fuddruckers -- not as upscale but kid friendly does have a separate room and is not that busy.

I called Houlihans -- they have a private room for 12-15 people but it will not be available until 6:30.

There are some restaurants off of Peachtree Industial also not far from 285 -- Red Lobster and a China Inn (very nice in Chamblee!!!) it has a private area and www.chinainn.info.com

I am all over the place any feed back would be appreciated.

OK here is another one -- Chequer's Bar and Grill they are located right off of Ashford Dunwoody on Hammond Drive -- the price range is 15-25 per person it is a nice restaurant. They have a private area and they are available at 5:40 on Sunday.

I went through all the posts
we had a lot of votes for Maggionos but its pricey
lots for Joes but it is too far for some
a few for El Atzec -- no private room or reservation but meets the above critera.

Then I threw out a bunch of ideas but no takers.


I will make reservations tonight or tomorrow morning. So way in your votes please.

The menu looks pretty good.....stuff for kids?? I might be bringing DS along as well.

I lean more towards El Azteca, but will be happy anywhere!!

Tee hee hee! H said he's going out of town this weekend but he will come see DD Sunday evening. I told him we were meeting friends in Atlanta, and he said maybe Monday then.

Tonight when he was over, he asked me what we will be doing in Atlanta, and I repeated meeting friends, why do you care, since you get all defensive any time I ask you about your plans? He said, I'm curious. I said, oh well. Ha! He's curious... building a little mystery here, maybe? I've stopped asking him what he's up to when he's not here, because I always get a terse, "none of your business" or drawn out story that I can tell is a lie. So now the shoe is on the other foot... thanks so much for organizing this!!

I just KNOW he's going to Jacksonville with OW this weekend for the UGA/Florida game. I'm suspicious b/c a. he never goes out of town, why THIS weekend? b. he says he will visit a friend in another state, who I know is working this weekend (he works all night and sleeps all day). and c. he asked someone else to keep our dog while he's gone. Um, guilt?
