just because he's got a Mensa IQ

I believe Liam Gallagher was measured as having a Mensa-level IQ, so your stbx is in impressive company.

(As in Neanderthal, conceited and considerably less impressive than he imagines himself.)

Never! It doesn't show. Mind you, STBX's brain is down the drain these days, too.

ROFL!

Hi, Alphin.

And yet he fails to understand his own brain chemistry at work. Who said he had a Mensa IQ? Did he make that claim?

Hang in there Alphin. Just picture him as the absentminded gardener, one foot from stepping on the rake, whose handle that will fly up and break his nose. His 'turn' will come. Just be patient.

All the best,
Gimble

Thanks, Milk! Why don't you kick up your own heels a little this Christmas, eh?

It's a fact, I'm afraid. Though I think it's been lowered considerably by his lifelong drinking habit, and now his A with the enabling OW.

Maybe. I think that the OW could be hitting him over the head with a heavy saucepan and he'd still say he was happy with her, just to prove to everyone he's done the right thing.

Too late for me, I'm sad to say.

Now here's something interesting.

MIL phoned me yesterday, and from the way she was speaking she didn't know that whilst she and Fil were up here, it was the first time the girls had met OW.

Seems like he's pulled the wool over his parents' eyes as well.

I told my parents about it yesterday - they (especially my dad) were very angry about the situation. He was suggesting that we cancel our plans for Christmas with the ILs and come down to them instead.

I must say it crossed my mind - but even if ILs were complicit in this, I have to swallow my own feelings. I can't disappoint the girls.

Alph.

Ha! I had one of those kind of WS' in my house.....he kept trippin' over his own words and feet. LOL!!!

After recovery, he learned to put one foot in front of the other, one at a time instead of in his mouth. LOL!!!!

Baby steps, Orchid - baby steps! Don't want the WS to fall and hurt themselves!

OT - creative kids - don't you just love 'em? I bought two rolls of tape specifically for Christmas wrapping this year. Just went to the drawer to get them... both are empty. DD5 has used them for her 'creative projects'.

Just off to the stationary store...

The other night, my kids and I were watching the movie Forrest Gump on TV. (And really enjoyed it.) Throughout the film, people always ask Forrest if he's stupid.

His answer? "Stupid is as stupid does."

Alphin about your WH...smart is as smart does. If you're smart but you act stupid, are you still smart? Don't think so. Sometimes, all the juice a person gets for being sooooo smart just makes them feel they are entitled to more than everybody else.

Hang in there. We'll make it through the Holidays together.

I love my MIL & FIL, but I wonder about their relationship with their two sons. STBX is the elder, and has this monster IQ - he's always excelled at everything, and his parents are obviously proud.

My BIL is certainly no dummy, but perhaps not quite so gifted as STBX. I often wondered, even before all this mess, if MIL & FIL favoured STBX over BIL.

Thing is, BIL is a much nicer person than STBX - not an ounce of entitlement in that one! But STBX is full of it. And full of entitlement!

I think STBX is a deeply spoilt person. I think he's been praised so much in his life, and I didn't do it enough! OW obviously heaps praise upon him.

Interestingly, BIL was also a BS, a long time ago. I think we will have a lot to talk about this Christmas. He and his wife and I are going out for a meal together.

Hope I don't start weeping in my salad.

I feel exactly waht you are saying. What kills me is that my EX and I "decided" that our son wouldnt meet anyone until we had been dating them awhile and would not just spring it on him. Well the next weekend after we split, he had all three of them sleeping in the same bed............
