1. If you have a "problem' or and "issue" with a marriage builders post...report it to the moderators...

2. We are ALL guests here....we should behave as guests and not make demands on the owners of the board...
telling them what to do with THEIR board...
if you don't like their board...there are a gabillioin other message boards on the web.....

3. I am continually amazed at people unwilling to exercise their right to ingnore.....and then claiming the right to complain to others...

if you don't like howard stern...ummmm change the dial...

this stuff just keeps happpening...
but I will say it's definitely a new phenomom every couple weeks or so we get a post running full of people unhappy with this one or that one on this site....

on and on it goes..
usually turns ugly just as this one has...

it's getting to be pathetic in my opinion....

so let the hateful words and disrespectful judgements continue......

carry on your missions
pick up your torches
Godspeed..

I've never read idiotville once.
I've never been too put out to hit the page 2 button on the bottom of page to read what's on page two inspite of what's on page 1..

weaver is correct

I don't GET it....

There are more main stream MBers like you who post to help others. Not that I am a big fan of yours - I still have you on my ignore list. But I am glad that you are here to try to help others.

LOL.....Another person who has me on their ignore list...That makes you about the third or fourth person... I gotta be doing something good.

Thanks dude..you made my day.

Some people just don't get it, they don't get it that they don't get it.

ark,

I defend every thread..otherwise we are just talking censorship....

However, you've just expressed your disapproval/confusion of this thread. Is it censorship or an attempt at censorship? Nah! And neither was the opinion I expressed earlier. Neither of us have "deleted" any threads, parts of threads, or even encouraged the deletion of any threads.... and we both expect the administrators to run their own board as they see fit. Idiotville has been around for a long time....so obviously the folks who sponsor this board are not overly concerned. It's a decision I don't agree with....but I don't sponsor this board....and I have the option of choosing which threads I read.

Like you, I just ignore Idiotville....but that doesn't mean that I haven't an opinion about how well Idiotville or a fantasy thread like The Kingdom of Caerlon serves this board, and my opinion is that they don't serve it very well. I'm entitled to that opinion, and I'm entitled to express it as long as I do it in a respectful way that doesn't violate TOS.

But if ending censorship is worth fighting for, it can't be selective....if it protects idiotville, then it also protects pio....or me....or you.....and potentially....even ugliness and obscenity.

star*fish,

I think my general opinion of Idiotville is now public record. I am not, however, advocating its censorship. I have and will ignore it. It was the second thread that could not die that I take issue with. I would prefer Idiotville remain one thread where it can not occupy too much space and be easily ignored.

Do not get too near me at the moment. I am a great target so you might get flamed by association.

As to whether Idiotville promotes Marriage Building or not, I will leav that to others to decide. I simply don't want to get involved with it or any of the chat threads. If they serve a purpose for their members, so be it.

The members of Idiotville are circumventing the original issue. Why can't it remain one thread.

Are you talking about the original Idiotville vs Idiotville 2?

star...

I don't disaprove of this UNTIL it gets to the name calling...

I don't agree that people should make requests to the kind people that own this board....but they are welcome to do it....

I think if/when you have a specific complaint then you should report...

I would never try to stop this type of post...I just don't understand what the point is...and it did ask for opinions...

but I wouldn't say don't post it...by any means....just don't understand it..and I don't ever censor that of which I don't understand...they are not equal..

I can not ever support someone saying that someone is NOT worth it...

what's the point to that...what good does it serve...

it's actually a very cruel thing to say....

I can't fathom why anyone would say that a finite number of posts is OK...but don't exceed this or that....to me that is censorship,...keep them contained...

it's not difficult to find the posts you want to respond to

so now if I post on idiotville..will I become "ONE OF THEM"
board hoggers or whatever the term is...

I reamin clueless about what the fuss is..

if you have a specific issue with a post talk to the moderators...

if you ask for opinions
expect opinions...

not every post here promotes marriagebuilding..some are a lot to do about nothing....

pio,

Shucks, dawlin I've been here so long, and flamed so much, I'm simply immune. Offense is taken, not given.....and I choose not to take it. Why would I allow anyone on an anonymous message board to affect me emotionally? If I found myself upset about people's opinions on this board....it wouldn't be healthy for me.

However, your concerns about how much "space" is occupied by Idiotville is outside of the power of the posters here to change. Only the administrators can do that. You can express it....but I'm not sure how productive a discussion it will be as far as "changing" what you'd like to see changed.

But let me ask you this respectfully.....how hard is it really to ignore a thread, or even 10 threads? My objections to these long chat threads has nothing to do with space or ease of ignoring it.....I've had zero problem not reading Idiotville. I'll be honest, you keep saying it's about multiple threads....but that sounds kinda dishonest or at least incomplete. I dunno.

If that second thread will die (and now all these extra ones I created), so will I.

So if I may paraphrase, you are saying "I'll stop being annoying if you will."

That actually sounds familiar... oh yeah, a couple of years ago my (then) 7 year old tried that logic. Didn't fly then, doesn't fly now.

Pio, you have some helpful posts out there. But right now, my impression is that you are waving a flag for some noble cause that just isn't there. And what it does is hurt your credibility. An otherwise poignant comment or relevant post on someone's thread who needs it brushed off because it comes from "that guy."

And it makes me wonder, in general, what your approach is to a situation that bothers you. Nothing seriously wrong, just bothersome. You make these statements that are almost attacks. Many of them are valid. And we can choose to ignore them. And I understand all that.

But have you read what you post and listened to your tone?

We all have our bad days and can get torqued up over things, but it has been pretty continuous for you lately. And not over your marriage, or "real" problems, or anything.

We (MB) are a pretty forgiving crowd. But I have seen other inflammatory (and that is too strong a word for you, but it is the best I can think of right now) posters who COULD have been helpful get almost summarily dismissed.

Look at lemonman for example. He is the posterchild for saying things counter-culture and inciteful, but in a way that is palatable. He pulls it off because he understands tact.

Why is he on your ignore list? And let me say this, I have formed my opinion, which will not change regardless of what you say. My opinon on that is "he called you on some b*llsh*t you were spewing and you couldn't take it." You will not change that opinion because I have formed it by observing how you conduct yourself here. And that is my point. No matter what you "say," opinions of you are being formed, which is going to take away from whatever advice you may give.

Pio - here is my opinion, and it is an opinion only. You have some "housecleaning" to do yourself before you stand and judge on how others are conducting themselves. I hear a lot of arrogance and pride in you, and that isn't healthy. (Faced those demons myself, so I recognize them).

Idiotville reads like a bandy romp. These threads you are propogating read like the "Jerry Springer Show." And it's not all you. When one shakes their head and wonders at the people on the stage on "Springer" one should not stop there, for the audience feeds it. But you are (what appears to be) gleefully sustaining it. Like you need attention or something.

Usually I have found that it is more important to do right than be right.

I know a little something about that.

Silverpool - great advice to Kiwi

Anyname - Idiots are like elephants we remember everything.

P- I understand your thread, but TT wanted a voice outside of I'ville, it wasn't an I'ville thread, it was a thread about I'ville, much like this one. She wanted others to read and to my shock and arrogant amazement, many of you don't read I'ville.

If your W did come as a WW I would embrace her, for myself inflicted pain by ones choice is still pain. I would be compassionate, and she would receive a cyber hug from me. I would also call her an IDIOT and do my best with MB principles to have her work through this and do the right thing.

Just because I would hug her, does not mean I agree with her, or support her actions, it just means I'm not wired for tough love.

I also believe I have my limits on do-overs, but twice over, is not my limit. We are all different, and that's okay.

(((pios))) maybe you needed one, maybe that's what this is about, so just in case, there you go.

Again - do you NEED the attention? That is what it looks like.

The members of Idiotville are circumventing the original issue. Why can't it remain one thread.

And I haven't circumvented it. I answered this on THIS thread. So I will answer it again another way.

You say "why can't it" as if Idiotville itself was organic and spreading like a disease. You make reference to a rule being "always page 1" when it is a running joke.

Here is how it works ...

1) Idiotiville isn't making choices to start a new thread, the people who post on it are.
2) The board allows us to start a new thread, if we feel the need.
3) Someone who posts on Idiotville feels a need and starts a new thread.
4) If the thread is purposeful, or meaningful, or relevant, it stays alive supported by our choices to post and view.
5) If it doesn't, it dies a normal death.

You pose your question like it has some medical condition and you are asking "Why can't it stop stuttering?" or "Why does its hands shake?" looking for a reason, when there really is none.

Your question should be "Why DOESN'T Idiotville stay on one thread?" and the answer is "Because it can." Case closed.

Now if you feel it SHOULDN'T be allowed to, THAT is censorship. Well, almost. I don't like the censorship argument here. Censorship is for PUBLIC speaking. And while we say this is a PUBLIC place, it really isn't. It is only a place where the public gathers, and that is a HUGE difference. The owners/operators of the board have a right to deny access and topics, just as you do in your own home.

So let me rephrase that. Your opinion doesn't really matter a hill of beans on multiple Idiotville threads. Neither does mine. It is only the opinion of the moderators as to what is allowed and what is not.

If we don't like it, we can ...

...send an appeal to the moderators and ask if the rules of operation can be changed.

...apply for a moderator job and change them once we take the position.

...leave this place of public gathering and start our own board.

That's pretty much it. If you don't understand any of that, let me know and I will clarify.

Bear in mind, that my opinion that you just like the attention is getting stronger and stronger with every post.

And I doubt I am alone.

I see something I dislike about the forum, so to "prove a point" I'll do the same.

I'll take pot shots at folks who disagree with my perpective, with comments about frequent posting, work ethics, having no life. Yet I have racked up nearly 1200 posts in the past 4 months of existence on the MB boards.

Does not want to "chat" or get into arguments, only wants to assist or be assisted. 1200 posts? How many of those where to offer, or ask for MB advice?

Look at what you dislike about the boards, and lead by example.
