Well, er, that is kind of the point. I didn't invent useless threads. robby13 can include that one in his list.
This thread can die because, like many threads, it serves no uesful purpose in marriage building.

::::I know my analogies are not very good; I am intellectually challenged regarding analogies, metaphors and similes. When you are diagnosed with a brain tumor, you quickly acquire a team of doctors. My experience has been the opposite of your DD's. The doctors on my team are painfully clear about my prognosis that I typically head them off at the pass.
Todd, your experience being what it was makes your analogy perfect. No apologies needed. Personally I've never really liked analogies because the situation is not the same as the problem cited. It's a LIKE something and not the same. And therefore open to criticism. With regards your doctors, I think it's fantastic that they were straight with you. As I told you it's not what my daughter reports to us. Not that it's always the case, and maybe some patients do not understand what they've been told. My daughter works at Englands oldest and largest cancer hospital - so she see's a lot. She hates it when she is dealing with a patient who has been lead to believe they will be ok (or they wanted to believe it) and she is the one who has to tell them that is not ok and they are in a lot of trouble.
Anyway, you are not alone in preferring to be informed of your S's behavior.

todd I was not talking to you, but I will, but only using metaphores and parables. This thread seems to be turning into a thread about nothing. My FAVORITE!!!! I am much too literal. Guess that is why I alwsys gravitated to math and science. Very dependable and no hidden meanings. Right? Me too. I'm great at math, I can spell anything. Pios you can always have the thread deleted. What fun would that be?? Should there be consequences for failing to meet a POJA?? I give my children consequences, can I give them to my H?? If you throw an MB Q in with all the nonsense, it's MBing. but answer the question it was real.

The queen, for her part, is the unifying force of the community; if she is removed from the hive, the workers very quickly sense her absence. After a few hours, or even less, they show unmistakable signs of queenlessness. - Man and Insects

"Well, er, that is kind of the point. I didn't invent useless threads."
Except this one, oh yeah...and the other 2...
Are you the problem or the solution?
You have all the answers? Or want to try to convince people your way is right?

This thread can die because, like many threads, it serves no uesful purpose in marriage building. Hmm - then what's this thread? This thread is your invention...take responsibility - you tried to make a point - it back fired...It's like biting a kid cause they bit you! This thread should die - but it wont...once again a concequence to your actions of starting it. Learn from your mistake - move on to what you need...as these threads - even though started by you - aren't what you are looking for...but maybe others get something out of it?

Sorry guys, the only thing that backfired is that we have yet another chat thread. Yes I wish that we did not. My mistake. I may be taking the flaming but I am seeing that I am not alone in my concern about all the chat threads here. Whatever. Keep your chat rooms but don't deny that is what they are. I think the people in them probably came to MB looking for help with their marriages. Some are long since divorced and now seem to come here primarily for the company.
I hope I never get to the point where I consider my computer my best friend. I am surrounded by people at home and at work. Those are the people to interact with. I can't imagine being at work and ignoring the people around me so I can chat away on a thread on some web site.
There is something seriously wrong or so many people would not be so defensive. If I am so wrong, people would just ignore me and go on their way. But they don't. They get defensive. They get angry. There must be a reason why there is so much denial.
Enjoy your chat threads all you want. I can ignore them. I just wish they did not occupy so much of page 1.
The ideal solution is to have MB provide these forums as an RSS feed - then I would never even see those chat threads. That is what I would really like out of this - MB on RSS. Perfect solution for everyone.
I am editing this post so as not to bump the thread. As of this moment, i have 20 posts out of 137 posts on this thread or 14.6%. I can't really see how that shows that I am trying to get the last word. It would be interesting to run statistics on some of the posters here. I think you find those needing help, the helpers, the chatters and the crossovers. I don't see too many crossovers.

in your "my home" area...
Go to display preferences...
In default display mode choose flat mode
total parent posts to show per page choose 50
Total posts to show on one page when viewing a post in flat mode (default is 15)
choose 50
Now you will see more than 15 posts on page one...and wont have to go to page 2...and idiotville will now only have 418 pages or so
Then you dont have to weed through all the chat threads by choosing next page - the 3 or 4 there are will only take up 3 or 4 of 50 instead
POJAing a solution here....we can't all be right...some people actually get help from those chat areas...may not be the help you need...but help they may need - we are after all, different people with different needs...

Thanks for that Dorry...
"Enjoy your chat threads all you want. I can ignore them"
Actually, I don't think you can...you have not been able to ignore this chat thread that you started. You seem to want to have the last word. And I should apologize...I know this, and yet I post to see if you will once again...after saying you won't post anymore...come back and post and keep this thread on the top...

well - well I agree with ya pep about the dangers of those threads - I see the dangers in all threads...but I also know some of the support given in some of those threads woman to woman, man to man, have been key for some people's personal recovery...a need some people have...wouldn't want to see it get put away for someone else's needs...it's about meeting all of our needs - some needs are different

I LOVED your POJA example
cracked me up
I am in a very good mood today... Friday foolishness ... We're going to see DaVinci this afternoon ... I am reved up for some fun!
I read your story how you got internet game entangled unaware of the danger awaiting you ... what a journey! Some of your history I don't remember reading about previously. (maybe I simply forgot ???) you done good girl I liked what you wrote to Arkie too ...
and I was thinking ... some of this is mid-life lessons... I mean, I'd be really surprised to ever read a 20-something woman talking about her need for humility .... transitional growing pains... age appropriate.

I want to go see davinci - but greg heard it had HORRIBLE reviews at Cannes - as bad as the book reviews - so he doesn't want to waste our money
Men - sheesh...
Yeah - I am way beyond my years....29 going on 69 lol
Nah - you aren't getting senile...I just haven't talked in depth about ALL details of my affair - unless it has a place...in this case - it had a place I usually give the rough just of things...
If I complain too much about where I was at that time...I might end up back there - ya know? Living for today!

in my late 20s I was a complete mess
did you know I did not get married until I was 31?
28-29 I was having my run of zipless-fks (Erica Jong style) and I was miserable and Godless ....
sometimes I feel lucky to be alive ... I did really dangerous stuff back then ... not drugs so much ... but I was reckless and thrill-seeking ...
now I just want to get up without back pain ~~~> THATS becoming evolved

Todd, interesting analogy considering that time and time again oncologists do NOT tell patients the truth, because quite often the prognosis is so grim.
AN Wow - my prognosis was "This is cancer and very large - You need to choose where to die" I wonder why my oncologist told me - you couldn't have a much grimmer prognosis than that. I was not young I have never heard of an oncologist not telling a cancer patient the truth - unless it was a child and then it was up to the parents. Please tell me where you live so I can avoid it and the doctors who do not tell patients the truth. SP
