Do you notice that when you have a strong feeling...you also tend to think that the rest of the world should care?

Yet reality is quite indifferent. I can be as mad, sad, glad, happy, awed as I care to be and you know what happens?

Absolutely nothing at all.

They are of no consequence except what I permit or create.

They are therefore trivial ...I see no other conclusion.

I'm glad you expounded a bit.

I have a fragmented view of this.
On the one hand, I seriously do not have any emotional investment in whether "insignificant others" agree or not with my view. Maybe because of my intense interests in politics where I can respect the person, and not their opinions, unlike many people seem to be able to do. They conclude that if others don't see things the same way as they do they must be evil, for example. That worldview is a hampering attitude if you are serious about politics, and hope to make a positive difference.

On the other hand, when I'm grieving I do get that "Stop All The Clocks"* feeling.. Like how can the world go on like nothing happened when my world just stopped.

*"Stop all the Clocks" a poem by W.H. Auden
