You Don't have To Take it Anymore by Steven Stosny, focuses on strategies that will help you enjoy your life anyhow, without getting sucked into the drama. It's frustrating for me to see people stuck in believing that they are not capable of protecting themself from the abuse.

Would you like a "reading assignment" that I think might just help the both of you to really address these issues of intimacy? If you do, then go get a copy of Magnificent Marriage by Gordon MacDonald and read it and discuss it.

I highly recommend John Bradshaw's books..."Healing the Shame That Binds Us" and "Homecoming" and his "Family Secrets." In that order.

Hey Eph, I just started reading Marriage on the Rock by Jimmy Evans. Did you read it? Did you like it?
I have watched some of his seminars on his website and I think that he is very good. I wish I could afford the DVD series. What's your take on this?

We did the whole DVD series at church. I thought it was really great, the book as well. The way he describes the night that became their turning point is riveting.

I thought a lot of his principles meshed well with Dr. Harley's.

When my FWH and I were beginning our restoration, I bought this book. FWH was still too foggy though. The book made me cry... alot. It wasn't until a couple of years into recovery that we actually started reading the book together and attended one of the Evan's conferences. It was GREAT!

Jimmy Evans was just in my town about a month ago, but I didn't go for some reason. I wish that I had. I definately want to get the DVD series. The book so far is very good. Thanks for your reviews!
