Hi RLT,

I live in Westminster. DD19 is at CSU. We're going on a road trip to the left coast party but I am all about a Rocky Mountain version.

Any one else?

Hey, Chrisner--we live in Morrison.

Anybody else? Colorado is a great vacation spot.

Say, Chrisner--you think we're Fruit and Nut here, or more the Granola variety?

Spent the last year
Rocky Mountain way
Couldn't get much higher
Out to pasture
Think it's safe to say
Time to open fire

I couldn't be much further away from Colorado than I am I'm afraid but you reminded me of agreat song and a good friend - Jeremy - who lives in Colorado and who I haven't seen in a long while.

Thanks for that !

Hey RLT,

I think most of the Granola is over in The People's Republic of Boulder. I am more of a burrito and beer guy. Now you made me want to go to the Morrison Inn. I have not been there in a long while.

Bob, I saw Joe Walsh at Red Rocks about 2.3 million years ago.

Chrisner,

I was going to say the same thing about Boulder, but didn't want to offend in case you happened to NOT be a "burrito and beer guy." Love the Morrison Inn, great marguritas!

Been to many, many shows at Red Rocks. Did Walsh open for someone? I can't remember. Husband would remember.

Beautiful, awesome place--Red Rocks.

RLT,

I think it was around the summer of 1981. July?? Like I said 2.3 million years ago. We had to put on pterodactyl repellant back then.

You live close enough that if you had too much fun (that never happens at Red Rocks) you could walk home. Or at least get to the Morrison Inn for another margarita.

chrisner,

Wow that IS 2.3 million years ago.

I actually live in the Morrison "annexed" area, not right in the little town (wish I did). But I can see Red Rocks from my bedroom window. These days I have a hard enough time walking up to the top of the ampitheatre, if we're stupid enough not to get there in time for parking at the top. Thank goodness for those little buses that come get you.

Last show I saw there was Tom Petty. Everyone was so stinking drunk, I almost got puked on. Saw Bob Seeger at the Pepsi Center recently...same thing... drunken fools everywhere. Not that I don't like a to indulge in a drink or two myself, but aT 46 years old, I'm starting to get a little impatient with the scene, but I do still love the music.

Went to see Tony Bennett at the Buell recently ... now that was nice. I think we were the youngest couple there. Yikes, that's pretty bad, huh? When you have a GREAT time at a Tony Bennett Show.

Weave, no, didn't see Dave Mathews. For my taste these days, he's too much of the People's Republic of Boulder type for me.

Hey now be nice, we're the same age. Shhh.... I like Tony Bennett too. And it's nice to go somewhere where your the youngster again.

Are you native to Colorado? I migrated here in 1966 with a hunting and gathering party.

Mrs W, I have never had a Rocky Mountain Oyster but a restaurant not far from RLT called The Fort is supposedly famous for them.

hey chrisner, I won't tell anyone that you like Bennett, too. Your secret's safe with me.

I'm not a native here. We came out in 1981, moved back to Florida, got my degree in English, then moved back out in 1987. When people ask what brought us here, we answer ... John Denver's songs. Ain't that pathetic. But it's true. We were just kids back then, and we just decided one day to pack up the U Haul and the dog, and drive out to Colorado to start a new life. Geez, I wish I had that kind of courage nowadays.

I do live near The Fort, but never indulged in the infamous Rocky Mountain Oyster. Used up all my courage a long time ago.

Where did you migrate from?

My hunting party came through a gap in the glacier out of Minnesota. I still remain fairly close with the small remnants of my family there and return fairly often. But my whole real life has been spent in Colorado.

We sat around in the dark a lot up at Red Rocks drinking 3.2 beer when I was in high school talking about the “foxes”. I grew up in Lakewood. Wayzilla was born and grew up in Golden at the now infamous Infidel Hotel.

I know what you mean about courage. It was easy to be courageous when we were young and had nothing to lose. Now risk has to be measured with the possibility of loss. Courage has to be balanced with common sense.

Chrisner,

I read up on some of your thread. IL's can be pretty unbelievable, ha? Mine actually let the two infidels into their house. MIL put on the tea, got out old photos of Mr. RLT, and one of US and our family. So the three of them sat around the kitchen table and had a good ol' time looking at them. Can you even imagine such a scenario?????
It's mind blowing. It truly is. MIL also decided that my kids' intitial rejection of their father for what he had done was MY fault. I turned them against him. She fed his fuel of entitlement and justification, and made me the Devil. My son, 18, has been through some of the same stuff as your daughter, although he is now coming around ever so slowly. Yeah, infidels don't realize that just because they are pretty much adult children, they hurt, too.

Courage. Maybe we still have more than we think, chrisner. After all, we are walking this walk, aren't we?

<img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I am no longer living in CO, but I think I qualify as "semi-native" since I lived there for 25 years. All 25 years blissfully spent living in Lakewood! My favorite place on the PLANET is on top of the tower on Lookout Mountain. And the best margarita's ON THE PLANET--barr none--are the margaritas at the Morrison Inn. I have a claim to fame. I was there when Phish came to town...and I was there when Dave Matthews played the Rocks.

I may have transplanted to the West Coast...but you never lose that Rocky Mountain high!!

FW, I didn't go to Phish, but I remember driving through Morrison when they were there. Phish Heads EVERYWHERE. I did go to a few Dead Shows in the eighties. Crazy.

Hi CJ,

What a view from that tower on Lookout!

If we had a RMMB party I would suggest the balcony at Simms Landing on Green Mountain. What a view of the city at night.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....margaritas.....
