good one starving. gee, doesn't every great relationship start out with that line opener "excuse me big boy, but can you please show me the differnce between a "nail" and a "screw"??" (and if he needs a hose adapter or extender, i am just sooo not interested! lol)
hehe

bowling alley huh? and you don't know who he is at all? i would think you could come up with some way to talk to him.... does anyone know who he is? that could introduce you? or are your lanes close together so that you could say "hey, great strike" or something? Oh, I know, tell him you really like his BALL(S) haha oh, bowling ball i mean <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Or "oh my, you are so big and strong to throw that bowling ball so hard down that hot and slippery lane"

ok, i must stop now. lol

Don't try too hard, be casual. And if he's a lefty, maybe he wouldn't wear a ring while bowling. Is he a good bowler or is he bad? Because I am bad. But, the good thing about being bad is you can make comments like "we should be playing baseball, that way it would a good thing not to get any strikes".

Or if he is good, and he is next to you, just tell him he is good. Giving someone a compliment if it is true doesn't mean you're trying to pick him up. It is a good way to start a conversation. I have a friend who compliments everybody. She always finds something nice to say about your clothes, your hair, your attitude. She isn't solicitious, she'll just throw one thing out there. And guess what? Men, women, children, they all like to be around her because she makes us feel good about ourselves.

I dunno, that is too "direct" for me, I'd think of that woman as a bit slutty. Now, had the tall pretty Lowe's woman asked me about something in the plumbing aisle (where we were standing), I would have been happy to explain to her the difference between male and female (threads, of course), show her the advantages of the longer tub spout, and maybe even talk about what to make out of a hose bib adapter pointing down versus pointing up. But oh well, she never did ask...

Oh, my. I'm getting more and more pointers here.

Dawn, smile and look away. Then, look back. It seems to be American Female for "I'm available, chase me."

As a man looking for a chance encounter (just to meet someone), the above advice would get my attention every time. In general, I feel that women are too passive when it comes to signaling their interest. Please be more assertive.

Maybe you should ask the bowling guy if you can try playing with his ball. Or you could ask him how he gets it to slide down the lane so nicely....or how he keeps it so shiny. Maybe he could keep you abreast of the league rankings.

Second thought, don't give the kids any ideas. Gotta love our special kids!

Hi LT:
Nothing too exciting in my corner of the world.....until very recently. A good friend slipped me a piece of paper with a guys phone # and email address. Her husband has known him in the past and he is now single.
So, why is it I think about dating, something like this happens, and I'm frozen and wondering 'do I really want to date'?

K!

Look you aren't going to find me, but this guy might be one notch below me, GO FOR IT!

I'm cheering for you. Hit me up for advice or to give me details. GOGOGOGOGOG Karona.

Go Karona! You have nothing to lose but an hour of your time.

OK, I have a question.
There is a social event I could attend next week, a retirement dinner, which would allow me to access to people I knew over 15 years ago who would be a good social circle with whom to reconnect. It is on a weeknight, so I'd have to hire a sitter, and it is 75 miles away.
Do I go, or stay home in my suburban life not meeting anyone? PS, I can't leave work early and make a day of it.

I swear I just posted something.

Newly, you know the answer. You have to go. These opportunities only come once a year or less. Have fun.

Karona, go. It's just a blind date. Besides the BEST time to go on a date is when you're not sure it's worth the effort. Your expectations are so low, it's bound to turn out better than you expected. Besides, when your Aunt Ethel asks if you're dating yet, you can honestly say "Yes, Aunt Ethel, I do have dates."

The 'gallery' has spoken!

Okay, I will give this a shot. Tell me this though, I am the one that has to make contact with this guy.
What do I say???

AGG, Gekko, you're men, what would you want to find in your in-box?

NEWLY, YES, yes, go! By all means, you never know who will be there.
I also think it's okay that you can't leave early. Sometimes the best times, are when you wish you had more time!

K, What do you say?
"Hello, Mr. X gave me your email. He thought we might enjoy each other's company. Would you like to meet for coffee?"

Wow, I'm way too formal, aren't I? W'sup? doesn't work for me.
