Whew... thanks <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Actually I read a lot of your stuff "back then" too - and Orchid's reverse babble treatise. There *IS* a wealth of info and help here for those who really want it.

Thanks to all for all you do!

I have wondered if our board was under attack for a month or two now.

Possibly. Scammers come and scammers go. Part of the cycles of MB.

Trolls are the funniest, easiest part to deal with IMO.

Yes they are. MEDC has already demonstrated the use of the "Ignore User" button for trolls or anyone else for that matter. It's effective, easy to invoke, and insulates one from "irritants." ***scratch, scratch***

I believe there are darker forces at work than bored students.

Interesting. I haven't been on JFO in months and not much on most GQ or Recovery threads either, so I may have missed the latest "rock your stars invasion." What would be "darker forces" and could you give us some examples? The "minions" of the Dark One can be around, but usually it's just the self-centered fallen nature (already dark by nature) that is at work where infidelity exists.

I wish it were just a bunch of bored people.

Personally, I have never been so bored as to result to troll posting on a support forum.

I believe that it’s a sign of the times. Some of the swingers are likely real. I know people that have tried that life style in “real life”.

It NEVER results in a fairy tale ending.

Actually I’m surprised that we don’t see more of them around given the record earnings of pornography on the internet and the decline of morality in our country.

Doesn’t it say something bad about our society when the motion picture industry sits around to decide which format the pornography industry wants to embrace? HD or Blue-ray?

I don't agree with "swinging" marriages either. It is wrong for so many reasons and opens a whole can of worms that most people can't control.

The thing I have an issue with is witch hunts. How are we to know who is or isn't on the up and up here?

I feel if you think a poster is a troll you need to notify the mods IMMEDIATELY and leave it alone beyond that. You COULD BE wrong you know.

Plank... I was thinking like you this morning. It might not be as rare as some think. Look at what the internet has done to marriages, is it that hard to believe people are involved in swinging marriages these days? Go look on the web, there are lots of couples seeking couples out there.

Answer: The moderators can tell if multiple identities come from the same place. It serves no purpose to detail how. If I had access to certain records, I could tell as well. In addition, I could tell the approximate city, if not the exact city. In some cases, you can actually see the real identity, it just depends on resources and how hard you want to dig.

Almost without exception, you can tell if it is someone posting from a work address. I had a kid trying to destroy another kid one time and I actually called his DAD and asked if he would get control over his kid's computer. His kid was a serious piece of work. Dad obliged and I never had another problem from that direction. One time I traced down another kid in the UK and notified his/her ISP. That one went away as well.

I find infected computers all the time spewing out spam without their knowledge. This usually happens with the big ISPs like SWBell and Verizon, who could care less.

It is amazing what you can figure out on the Internet if you want to. Usually I don't want to.

THAT is your crystal ball?

Please, save yourself the time. I've been around these boards for years too. I may not have nineteen THOUSAND posts (I don't know where you find the time, btw). I had to switch user names when the board changed, my old one never would work.

Swinging marriages may not end well... but witch hunts never end well either.

I am concerned that people will get carried away with this troll hunting expidition. What is wrong with alerting a mod or just ignoring someone who seems "off"?

JUST RECEIVED THIS EMAIL!

Hi Robert.
I read your thread about 'trolls' on Marriage Builder's forum.

I just wanted you (Owl and the others) to know that I do NOT have
a MB ID....my last post was in August of 2006.

My posts as Sarie and IRWA (It Won't Rain Always) were true.
My other ID's were just a diversion so I could post stuff (like computer
advice since I give Beginner computer lessons) or advice that would
not connect me to Sarie or IRWA. I never started any threads that would
waste people's time or take attention away from hurting people needing advice.

I had promised I would not get another ID and I haven't.
I am not even sure if I could because my PC number is on file.

It is ok with me if you post the above on your thread.

edited to remove name at IWRA's request

yep...people sometimes don't like my approach as I can be pretty blunt...but at least I am genuine. I find you to be less than genuine and not very supportive of good family values.

but I have been asked to leave very few threads and some of the ones I have been asked to leave, not all, the poster has come back to me to ask for advice as they realized I was right in the first place and they were just not ready to hear it.

Where have I not been supportive of "good family values"?

The fact I didn't like the way PN was treated here automatically makes me not supportive of good family values? I never said I agree with swinging. I said I don't agree with the way some people freak out because they sense a "troll" and say some very hurtful things.

If that woman killed herself, how would you feel then? I know we are not professionals here, but a kind "we can't help you here, your situation is out of our realm" was all that was necessary. Rubbing someone's nose in how bad they've screwed up when they are looking for help just isn't very condusive to this board's nature. There are other boards for that activity. AND, not all of us live on this board and know there is a troll issue. I work full time, I have three children, and I am married to my H of 11 years. I am usually too busy to follow every detail of every poster here.

I have no problem with you MEDC. If you want to have a problem with me, well I can't stop you either.

We were all telling her the same thing: leeave him, heal, move on.

What was wrong with that?
