schoolbus,
A little bit OT:
Related to your job - are you aware of the pattern recognition software now available for textual and speech analysis? It works very well at classifying and identifying sources and content mining. We use various versions here.
I have not bothered to try it on MB posts but now that I think about it, it might be an interesting exercise.
with prayers,

Aph,
Yes - I do like the idea of being able to find things on the Net written by someone - mining texts, etc. The newer stuff that looks at music and videos is quite cool, but the computer speed and links you need, and the time it takes, well, for now it's nice to think about.
What I do more entails a person who is known, and analyzing known writings. Analysis of communications for meaning, looking at cognition of individuals, disorders, etc. So I don't end up having to look for stuff by somebody, I have it brought to me. The spy-guys would be the ones who would use the other software more - but I did look at it with interest, if only for using it to comb research articles!
The video and music stuff would be very handy for one thing - you know, when that catchy little phrase or tune keeps running in your head, and you just can't remember where it's from? That software could just put an end to that problem. I hate it when I know only one phrase of that stupid song and it won't get out of my head!

"What I do more entails a person who is known, and analyzing known writings. Analysis of communications for meaning, looking at cognition of individuals, disorders, etc." Some of these applications are designed precisely for that. Analysing legal contracts, for example, searching for hidden meanings, indicators of intent and identifying common authors. "you know, when that catchy little phrase or tune keeps running in your head..." I've heard that called an earworm. tunes: see http://www.kissthisguy.com/ ...lol... with prayers,
