One man came in with his wife, who had filed for divorce, to sign the Waiver of Citation. He brought back his copy of the Petition on which he'd written (above the language about insupportability) "She found another man!" He was hateful to me about it. Since I'm just a lowly secretary, mean people think they can get away with treating me with disrespect. My boss hears it & he lets 'em have it & in one case, fired the client. BTW, his wife is his paralegal. She's 75. Lost, that's really funny. Yep, I can picture your attorney and his "paralegal". When we come over from Dallas to go up against attorneys like yours, it's an education, believe me... 'specially in your neck of the woods. (woods-- see there are trees!) I had a wrongful death case once in East Texas where we walked into the courtroom and the Judge and the plaintiff's attorney were both sitting at the plaintiff's table with their feet propped up shootin' the breeze. Judge said, why don't you fellas get together and see if you can try and come to an agreement on this thing? Needless to say, we settled quickly. Lol.

Lemme tell you a true story. We were going back to Kentucky where my wife originates. I stopped by a place I know and got FRESH pecans to pass out to family. I sorted them out and gave a larger than average share to her dad. Now it is the grandma is a real cook as in made a living that way. She is also a character of the first water. She spots the larger than normal sack and exchanges it with her own. I caught it on a video recorder without her knowing about it. I titled it the "Great Pecan Heist." It added to her legend. It was the sneaky way she went about it that caused everyone to laugh including her. The pecans were well received. Her excuse is that she would make pecan pies from them and fresh was something she hadn't seen in years so she deserved the larger share. While I am still somewhat disliked for taking daughter and grandkids out of state, family tended to be a bit more forgiving of me after that. Larry

princess,
Sure you weren't in my county? Sounds like one of our judges. Happens all the time. We may be a little backward but we settle cases pretty quick, LOL.
BTW, if anyone has heard of the Kentucky Fried Chicken murders, it happened in my county. One man who died was the uncle of my DD#2's classmate & went to school with my SIL's, one man who died was the half-brother to my WH's cousin's H. Small world. After 24 years, I'll be glad when it's over.
For a hick county, we seem to have a lot of excitement. But since we are the least expensive law office in town & since the other attorneys don't want to deal with the crazies, they send them to us & that's no lie. We get people no one else will take. You wouldn't believe some of the things I've heard & seen. Makes for an interesting job!!
Unfortunately, sometimes we believe in the good ole' boy system a little too much.
But for the most part, it's pretty good here. And we have tons of trees in my neck of the woods!!! Like I said, timber cutting is big business here.
