Here is what I did for my wife's last birthday. It was so much fun.

I went out and bought a bunch of small gifts. A bar of chocolate, some nice candles, a frame to put a family photo in etc. I also bought her one really nice meaningful gift.

I also bought some blank cards, envelopes and stickers that said "Happy Birthday" and other stuff on them.

A month before her birthday, I discussed what I was planning to do with my kids. My intention was to come up with little rhymes that when she read them, would lead her to the next surprise.

Ok, here is how it worked. When she came home there was a gift for her on the table. The attached card had a rhyming birthday wish that directed her to another location; the bathtub. In the tub (empty of-course) was another small gift with a card that directed her to the third location... the dryer in the laundry.

This went on for about 7 gifts until finally she was directed to the freezer where a birthday ice-cream cake was waiting.

What's neat about this is that the whole family can get involved. I did this once before for my wife but this time I got the kids to color the cards and put the stickers on them. They had a great time following her from room to room as she looked-for and found all her gifts.

It takes a bit of work and planning but it was so much fun.

You can also do it for your kids. I bet they would love it too (depending on how old they are)

Regards,

AB.

I did this once for my husband. He LOVED it. I even had him and the other "hunters" go to several spots in their cars. It was a lot of fun.
