Mel, I've got a book that is a compilation of interviews with slaves from that era. Actually I have two, one is interviews with Savahanian whites, and one with former slaves. It is ghostlore interviews, but a lot of the lore stems from the days of the civil war and how it affected the different people interviewed.

They are both fascinating books. I'll post the titles after I go home and take a peek at them.

that is right up my alley! thanks....

2l, I emailed the photos my neice took.

Mel, I need your email addy again, so I can send them to you.

Now, I really wanted to wait until the professional photos came in. But you guys went and MADE me send these. Now everyone will think we are too hickish to have professional photos. And they don't show the beauty of the island either.

You can figure out who everyone is yourselves. I'll give you a hint though, the only people there of GB's family were his Mom, her boyfriend, and his daughter. The rest are mine.

Well, I did hurry up and delete the photo's of me passed out in the Champaign bowl. Oh and there was that one with GB hanging head first in the toilet bowl. But all in all, it was a fine day under the hanging tree.

Weeell, my side did have a guard strategically posted at each of the docks. And GB can't swim, btw, so I thought my idea of getting married on the island was quite clever.

Oh, and some words out of my brothers mouth to the effect of "hurt her, and I'll hurt you", might have had the effect of a shotgun. Of course, judging from the way GB was hyper-ventilating at that point, I don't think he would have had the oxygen to do do anything close to resembling running.

Thank you Mel. And he is just soooo cute. Not a vain bone in his body either. If you tell him how nice looking he is, he'll usually say something like "Oh, please never get glasses".

Anyway, here is the two books. There is a lot of history in the various stories.

"Slave Ghost Stories" Nancy Rhyne
"Savannah Spectres and other Strange Tales" Margaret Wayt DeBolt.

Thanks! I love those kinds of books. I am so happy you found a guy who is worthy of you, weaver. You are such a dear, good person and you deserve the best.
