Oh, BC, I'm sorry for your loss, but it sounds like she had one terrific life filled with warm laps all around!

Oh, no, no, no. Only Jaegermeister will do in this case. If you don't have it, just substitute NyQuil.

I'm of German heritage, but I am glad I'm not the only one that equates Jaegermeister and NyQuil! Yuck!

I'll be toasting Dixie with a nice Chardonnay tonight. It sounds to me like she qualified for Goddess status, so I think it's still appropriate.

Okay, now for some good news.

I didn't want to say anything till it actually happened, but I've been talking to a girl for the last few weeks and we met for the first time last night.

It was very casual, we sat on a patio at a local restaurant and just talked for a few hours. She's very quiet and reserved and we still managed 2 hours of conversation, so I'm hoping that's a good thing.

We have a lot in common, not everything, but we're both stay at home kind of people, both very close to our families, both love Cajun and Zydeco music, both enjoy exercise and working out (we're members of the same chain), both home owners and completely self sufficient, and both very content with the current status of our lives.

So she doesn't have any drama or baggage in her life, no kids, never been married, but she's in her mid 20's, so that's not any kind of red flag. She's the baby of the family and her siblings are my age and older, so she acts much older than she is.

So I see a lot of potential with her. We won't be able to meet again for a few weeks, since I have DS4 till next week. I told her this when we wrapped it up, then I asked if I could call in a few days and she said sure, so I think it's all good.

Oh and lagniappe, she's absolutely beautiful!

So I've got my fingers crossed.

FIRST, sorry to hear about Dixie...poor thing...she deserves some rest...adorable little thing...

SECOND, I'm concerned...have you had enough golf...and all that other stuff you talked about doing for a year?

Eyes wide open?

just asking, I have someone I have been spending some time with, but I'm making a point to not get emotionally attached and all that other good stuff...sometimes I wonder about it but I shrug it off...

SLOW...pay attention, listen...all of those other good things...you know what I mean?

GOT AC? LMAO

I do but just barely! smile

Haven't had quite enough golf, but that's coming to an end with shorter days and the time change around the corner.

I actually played golf right before we met, and I played again yesterday. I don't think taking it slow is a problem with her. She has lots of friends and is close to her family. This one isn't looking to be rescued. She doesn't NEED me and I don't NEED her. It's very cool so far. I've hinted at my boundaries to see if it's going to be a problem. She's fine with them and understands. If things go well the next time we meet I'll talk to her about it in more detail. I want her eyes wide open too.

This is a girl my friend wanted me to meet months ago. I told her at the time to let me have the summer to myself and then if she was still available we'd see. Well, she's still available.

So we'll see

I still have that picture. I wonder if Faith1 would add it to the MB album?

Hey,,,,guys,,,,,,I realize this is a BIG qualification for you, BC but I'm thinking logistics here. Do you REALLY want a woman with the equipment necessary to pee off a mountain?? crazy

BC, glad you have a new adventure in you future!! Hoping it brings you fun & joy,,,,,,,,,,,,and if all is right, the special relationship/love that you so richly deserve.

Can she cook????

Thanks for the correction Jamesus! I'm an oilfield analyst. It's not about having the right equipment, cause we never do, it's about making what you have work. McGiver's got nothing on most Cajun men or oilfield hands in general. The right lady will figure it out!

dance2

As for as cooking, she's very health conscious, so alot of chicken and fish. That's fine. I cook the occasional traditional Cajun food that's good for providing comfort and heart attacks. We'll get the balance right. I eat fairly healthy these days, so it's all good.

We had a short conversation last night on my way to wing night with the boys. It's getting easier to talk to her, the conversation's feeling more natural. I figure I'll call every couple days until we can get together again.

No, things are pretty dull on this end. Things are going absolutely no where with the girl I'm talking to, we're barely even talking at this point. EXWW is coaching volleyball so I'm getting extra time with DS4, which is great, but leaves me with less time to do Beau stuff. We're still playing a lot of ball though and DS4 is steadily improving. He actually caught a fly ball the neighbor's kid hit Sun evening. I liked to jump out of my shoes, he acted like it was no big deal, Mr Showmenship!

So there's a whole lot of routine and not much excitement. I did manage to go fishing with a neighbor a couple weekends ago. We had a pretty good day on the water and I was able to put some fish in the freezer. My brother got one of those EZ-Go golf carts with the mud tires and a speaker system, so Sat night we loaded up an ice chest(that's a cooler to most people) and took the kids riding through fields and on levees jamming to some old swamp pop music. We brought a spotlight and spotted an owl, a hog, several cats, and a handful of alligators. Me and my brother live for that stuff and the kids got a kick out of it, so that was good time.

I'm just kind of in a rut. I don't have the money to go out and do anything. I was hopeful about this girl and it looks like it's a bust. The days are getting shorter and EXWW is coaching volleyball, so my time on the course is shrinking. I'm over 6 months past due on a raise and money's only getting tighter. Even here I can't really identify with anybody's situation right now so I mostly lurk.

I'm not depressed or anything, I'm still my old self, just laying a bit low. Life's kind of like golf, I just need one good thing to happen and I pop right back up.

Thanks for checking in though.

I can--to you. Sounds very similar to where I am; the purse strings tightening. It's fun, isn't it?

Some lady is gonna come around and snag you up; it's just a matter of timing, that's all. Just one good party with friends or a casual fun encounter and you are back in the swing of things. Have faith.

I can sure relate to this, too. As much as I love having DD15 around, I got used to having Fox time.

I'm still struggling with trying to balance the mom/woman stuff.

You are making memories of a lifetime for your boy, BC. That counts for alot.

Remember when we prayed for days like these?

Man, oh man, can I relate. Luckily, eventually I might be able to squeeze some blood out of my turnip WxH. That will help. I went today to get the paperwork to file contempt and then pursue garnishing wages.

Hang in there, BC. Where there is a will, there is a way. Don't lose your will or you will lose your way.

Is it just me, or is this an oxymoron? wink
