Review by the USCCB...

Sex and the City -- Frothy but morally flawed romantic comedy tracing the amorous ups and downs of a columnist turned author (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her three closest friends (Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon) after she and her longtime boyfriend (Chris Noth) purchase an apartment together. Conscientious themes of forgiveness and reconciliation as well as a generally positive view of marriage are swamped, in writer-director Michael Patrick King's adaptation of the popular cable-TV series, by errant materialism and an approach to human sexuality at once immature and indiscreet. Graphic sexual activity (some of it nonmarital and aberrant); rear, upper-female and partial nudity; sexual and scatological humor; two same-sex kisses; some rough and crude language; and two uses of profanity. O -- morally offensive. (R) 2008

scatological humor

like I said .....

Montezuma's revenge grin - and it was probably one of the funniest scenes - I laughed despite myself - as sometimes happens!

Anyone see The 40-year-Old-Virgin? I laughed at disgusting scenes there too. I guess I am just awful grin

I think this R rated movie is just that - an R rated movie - and should not be taken seriously. And will never be mistaken for the Panda movie - which is wonderful.

I did not watch the TV show - and that is not the topic of this thread anyway - so , since I did not watch the TV show - I offer NO OPINION about it's merits.

The movie does have some fantasy clothing and accessories that are drool-worthy - that's what I liked about The Devil Wears Prada movie too -

Sometimes - I go see movies just for the wardrobe grin . I went to see Marie Antoinette (2006 version ) directed by Sofia Coppola - JUST for the wardrobe !

Pep - looking shabby by comparrison

Exactly. This R-rated movie in no way changed my personal views or morals. It was a welcome respite from this awful Texas heat and good for a few laughs. In fact, I haven't laughed like that in a long time. grin

As for the reviews... just other people's opinions.

I loved the movie. It made me laugh and cry and mostly I just had a silly grin on my face throughout at Samantha's antics. I also love Disney movies. I am not a bad person.

Can't wait for the movie about 4 guys who eff anything that walks. It will be even better if while doing so they can destroy said walking ho's marriages and relationships! But, since it's only 'fantasy' it'll all be OK!

If you haven't noticed, not one man who has been betrayed has agreed with your opinion about the 'fantasy' aspect of your 'entertainment'.

Guess it's just us a**hole guys being stupid. Good luck finding your next 'true love'' who accepts this porn as 'entertainment'.

LOL... this is silly. I know you didn't post this to me but geez Iam, this MOVIE wasn't about that at all. It's a MOVIE for Pete's sake.

I was betrayed and my marriage has recovered. Me seeing this movie did not threaten my husband in any way. He KNOWS where I stand and it would take more than a MOVIE to change that. If a woman was influenced by a MOVIE enough to betray her morals, then there's bigger problems than her watching a movie.

Personally, I think angrily attacking people who have a differing view than you is stupid, but that's just me.

Like I said - this particular movie is not pro adultery - adultery is portrayed as a horrible decision that can be forgiven and marriages can survive and thrive -

There was a $300 pillow in the movie .... but you don't know what I'm talking about if you haven't seen the movie!
LOL grin

The movie comes out in favor of the pillow wink

I about spit out my popcorn during this scene. I bet Samantha had a hard time with her line without busting out laughing.

Porky's, Porky's II, Porky's Revenge

(Kim Cattrall was a sleaze in Porky's, remember? Lassie?)

And a number of others...

American Gigolo, etc. etc. etc.

It's amusing to read a movie critique written by persons who haven't actually seen the movie! It shows people have a good imagination. That's good smile

I especially appreciate critiquing specific movie content which does not actually exist. grin Really amusing. Very creative.

It is a raunchy movie. It is R rated. It has sexual content. No argument about that. It is not a wholesome movie in that respect. Certainly adult fare & not everyone's cup of tea..

But pro adultery - it is not.

Pep
