I don't have to use a walk behind lawn mower. If I did, I'm sure I would have a lot less grass!! I had a rider for the last 10 years or so, and then H bought me a ZTR mower for his birthday last year! What used to take me 2 hours to mow now takes about 50 minutes. I love it.
I don't like to be in the house in the summer, which is way too short around here. We will start having frost in the morning in about 2 months (we had some just the other day too).

I mean if you ENJOY doing it FINE. I'm all for it, Cinders. But if it's a job you HATE, give it to your SON..LOL...
It would be GREAT for HIM to learn...

Although I LOVE Ree, THE PIONEER WOMAN, I bet you can guess how many times I've mowed a lawn. Not bragging..just fact..probably won't change at 53.

Cinderella, I too caved to my kids whining. I am always busy and they get to do a lot of what they want. YS is now 18 and getting ready to go to college. He still lips off if I ask him to do something and I told him he can either help out or pay rent AND pay me to prepare his meals. I hired a cleaning service to help with the house (I am outside mowing ) and he made fun of me for cleaning before they come to clean. I told him at 18 yrs. old, he can clean his own bathroom, pay to have it cleaned, or pick up his junk like I asked and the girls will clean it. I have failed to teach them to take good care of themselves. I gave up fighting with them. Not good on my part. I have help now because I want a clean house but don't have time or desire to do it the way I want it. My H says he hopes I never quit with it because it makes me so happy. (This is a new thing, about 6 weeks since they started coming). I have time to do what I like to do and have a clean house too. Oh, I will not pay to have the boys rooms cleaned. Only the bathroom, since it is also the guest bathroom.

THERE YOU GO...mine actually left and pay their own rent..rather than having to listen to me...LOL... Good for you on THE CLEANING SERVICE, M&L... So FUNNY how people are different... We PAY to have the yard done... I ENJOY CLEANING THE HOUSE....

Mimi...so true how we are all different.
Cinderella, could you hire someone to come get the yard caught up? Just a one time thing, get it all mowed at once, trimmed etc. and then the upkeep would be more manageable. You could start with a clean slate, not behind. Or, find out how much it would cost and then offer that (or less) to your son to do the job.
One summer, we didn't have a lawn mower and we were so busy. We decided to have it mowed for us. The next summer we bought a new mower and then told our son if he mowed it all summer and took care of the lawn he would get a laptop. That is how he got his computer. And this kid now earns his living on the computer. It was the incentive he needed.
Not sure if that would work...as Mimi says, we are all different.

The front yard is done - despite having to stop and go get gas half way through the job. I quit for the day.
I hear you ladies. I gross about $3k a month. I have a mortgage, bills, and two children. And no child support increase in about 10 years. College for one is a year away.
I'd have to get another job in order to pay for the housecleaning (which is one of my dreams) and the yard work.

Good job getting the lawn mowed!
I totally understand the finances. If we were living on what I could make, we would not have much at all. I also have not been through a divorce. Close, but not yet!
Keep up the good work!

I work every day this week, M-F.
Monday night - chiropractor? or school zoning meeting?
Tuesday night - hooping at church at 5:30? Book club not far from home at 6:30?
Wednesday night - church? movie in the park?
Thursday night - chiropractor? or school zoning meeting?
Now, when am I going to do the back yard?
When do I do housework?
When am I going to get by to see my mom? She should never drive again so forget meeting her someplace!

I have so much respect for you as a working mom. I can't even imagine trying to do what you do on a daily basis. The fear of all that you mention probably kept me in a marriage I should have abandoned years ago. ( I'm o.k. in it now, but I never should have stayed through most of it. )
All of the things you mentioned, and you didn't even mention dinner, kids stuff, etc. I feel for you.
You deserve to have a yard keeper and a house keeper!

You deserve to have a yard keeper and a house keeper! Tell that to my employer. Money is what is keeping me from it. Employer isn't making that possible. In fact, my department of 105 people is losing 6 positions. The state is trying to cut it's workforce by 5% in every department. They have, at present, targeted specific job classifications and, fortunately, mine is not targeted. People who don't take the buyout offer in August are likely to be laid off in January. Guess who won't be getting a raise this summer. Not that a raise would keep up with the increase in insurance premiums. mal, we all make our choices based on our knowledge, fears, and dreams. I will throw in some prayers for you and your marriage. Maybe I shouldn't have fought so hard for my marriage but I will die knowing I tried with all I had. I fought because of my beliefs and my fears. Didn't turn out how I wanted but life is sweet. And, that is everyone's dream.

Cinders, I hear ya on this,,,,,,,,,,, I fought because of my beliefs and my fears. Didn't turn out how I wanted but life is sweet.
And, that is everyone's dream. Also, on the To Do List! I was mowing my front yard last night and thinking about how if I didn't get it done last night, WHEN would I be able to get it done? As I said on Queenie's thread, I've done a much better job these days of cutting myself some slack on the To Do List. I realized I can't do it all WHEN I want to, nor the WAY I want to,,,not ALL of the time. And that's ok. As long as I can keep from putting myself into a guilt trip about it, then it's all good. Right now, my bedroom looks like a tornado hit it. I'm re-arranging everything and it's a disaster. AND, it's been that way for a week! EEEKK!! The thing is, I just haven't felt like dealing with it, and that is SO not me. Yet, yesterday I realized how tired I was, so instead of getting bent about the bedroom, I laid down and took a nap. Again, that is NOT me. I felt better when I got up, so it was the right thing to do. I just think that there are times when a TRUE Goddess can say that she knows her limitations, accept them, and still feel like a Goddess. Today is another day and it will be a good one. Hope yours is fabulous!

This is the GODDESS thread and not the SUPER WOMAN thread!! Exactly the perfect description of what I was talking about. As usual, from the Queen Goddess, Mimi!

(((((GODDESSES))))) Good morning to all, Gosh, I have missed you all. I haven't spent nearly enough time on this thread lately. With all the weird bickering going on today (is there something in the MB water????), I wanted to post some good things going on with me...because as you all know, ITS ALL ABOUT ME.... I have been keeping up with my GODDESS routine that I started back when Mimi first started this thread. I have kept up with my hair (for the most part....I did get it done yesterday, and I was about 6 weeks OVER-DUE.....I would post my "excuses" but I'll spare ya all those...). I have kept up with the makeup, even gone out on a limb and tried some different colors and such. Clothes are doing well. WS has essentually bought me a new wardrobe, since none of my old stuff fit after the weight loss. The funniest part of that is we have probably spent more money on clothes for me so far this year than we did in the last 3 yrs. combined....sheshhhh... Weight....still doing well. I did gain 5 pounds in the last month, but I am hoping that is due to the surgery back in the beginning of June. I will be off all restrictions placed on me when I had the surgery on Monday, so I will finally be able to get back to the gym. YEAH.....Also, I am still swollen in my whole mid-section from the surgery, but the surgeon said that would take some time to go down. He said if it hasn't subsided by Aug. 1, then it will be due to me.....anyway, I hate that part, BUT I still fit into my size 4 jeans, so I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself.... The house, well....it is doing better, but I still have lots of area I can work on. Actually, I am getting off here and hitting the basement, so that will help.... Anywho, just wanted to touch base with all my fellow GODDESSES and say that I love ya all...... GODDESS not2fun

You know, I try not to read the bickering about which I hear. I never know it's there. If I run across it, I just quit reading.
N2F, glad you are doing well. I have about 1.5 to 2 inches of hair to grow till I cut it off and send it to Pantene's Great Lengths program. That's my hair thing these days.

I don't like BICKERING either, Cinders....
LIFE IS MUCH TOO SHORT...
I went to a funeral Monday for a 25 year old young woman who had been physically disabled and in much pain throughout her life...
Those who spoke at the funeral ALL talked about how you never saw her without a SMILE..
Even her MINISTER said that she lifted him up after a long day when he visited her in the hospital late one Sunday...
Her LIFE and now DEATH has touched ME and I didn't get the chance to know her....
WHAT A TRUE GODDESS!!
I made it happen..a joyful life..filled with peace, contentment, happiness and fabulocity.
