Well, it's mid-afternoon on Friday and I haven't gotten dressed yet. Home with the impending cruds. Sinuses really hurt. I think I'm going back to bed. Just got up 45 minutes ago. uhuh

I totally forgot about this thread. I posted here once or twice just after d-day. Just found it again and it made my day! Thanks, ladies.

Cinderella, I hope you feel better soon. It's hard to be a Goddess with a snotty nose, huh? (Equally hard with a toddler with a snotty nose...they have NO respect for dry-clean-only outfits) Sending you an imaginary bowl of homemade chicken soup.

I underestimate my Goddessness, but a pp made me think about how I looked and felt after d-day and compare that to today. New haircut, new colour, well-groomed brows, regularly shaved legs, I found the eye-shadow colour that I wore at my wedding the other day, thought it had been discontinued....bought it and it looks FABULOUS! I've lost weight (gained some back with my too-short-pregnancy, but that's going away), I choose clothes that don't all look like PJs and I have a very cute nose ring that DH loves, loves, loves. And, for some reason, my pre-children shoes seem to be fitting again, so I wear those FM-pumps a lot these days. Nice! Guess I'm getting my Goddess back.

Amen. So be it. Welcome, O life! I go to encounter for the millionth time the reality of experience and to forge in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race.

Just as I was about to go to sleep, daughter called. Her dad had picked her up at school and bringing her home - and was going to do some plumbing work for me. GREAT!!! crazy This meant I had to get dressed. x can be civil now and then.

I hate this time of year.....it's not yet 5 p.m. and it's already dark.

I think I'll go knit.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind wishes for perkiness in the next few days. (Sunday is d's birthday party - I have to get psyched up to amuse 20 teenagers at church in the youth group room.......don't know who is coming. The agenda is let them play games (board games, pool, ping pong, skeeball, foosball), watch movies (whatever daughter chooses), order pizza, eat cake (sometime tomorrow I will have to bake that thing), and generally hang out.

Gotta see that we have cups, plates, forks, drinks, and the associated stuff.

Hi Cinders,

I'm sorry you weren't feeling well this week. You are always so strong and giving to me. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Please have an awesome weekend and take care of yourself.

Love, Queenie

Cinders, I;m so sorry about your hearing loss. I don't understand why insurance wouldn't cover something like that?

As for your daughter's cake, surely her and a couple of friends can put something together? Just tell her you don't think you should be handling food cos you;re not well enough. You wouldn't buy a cake if you thought a sick chef had made it!

Hope you feel better soon.

Tuck! Thanks! I think I'll go to Costco tomorrow and see what they have. I generally don't like grocery store cakes. The only bakery around here is mui mui expensive.

Good to see you Mimi.

I spent last Saturday going through my closet and got rid of about half my clothes. It was completely stuffed with things I hardly wear at all - and in thin sizes and fat sizes. I eliminated the fat ones, and everything that doesn't look GREAT on me.

Took them all to the women's shelter where they put together free outfits for job interviews for battered women.

I LOVE my closet now - can actually find things. Sometimes less is more.

And I still have a little Mimi in my mind, telling me to always look my best - kind of like having Clinton and Stacey (from What Not to Wear) following me around.

kiss Mimi!!!! I'm so thrilled to have you back. kiss

I am VOLUNTARILY getting a haircut today. All these years I've had long hair and loved it. But, I NEED a haircut. If I didn't have this thread reminding me to embrace my goddessness rotflmao I might not be doing this.

See, I want to be able to put it up (I loved doing that for dressing up), I might not do this. But, my hair looks less than perfect these days....less than cute and perky....so I need to get it shaped up. I hunted down the hairdresser Wednesday night. When I finally got to him, he said that 'we need to get you in for a cut before the holidays' and I laughed. Because that was exactly what I was thinking.

Hey Mimi,

Don't usually post on this thread...really don't post much at all anymore, but do read. Just wanted to pop in and say glad you're back...you were missed!
