This goddess in training asks to be excused today.

Friday and Saturday were party nights and I was a party goddess. Cute little dresses and cute shoes, knockout makeup and hair. The party yesterday had the theme headwear and I took the chance to try really long hair extensions. Fun! I don't do FM shoes but I had a pair of bordeaux colored knee-high boots with the same effect. I got home from both parties at 2 am in the morning and crashed in bed.

This morning I had planned to go ice skating but when I woke up I realized that I don't feel well. I don't drink alcohol but I feel nauseous, I guess it is because I went to bed too late and had food at strange hours.

So today I will recharge my batteries, go through some papers and cook a nice dinner for myself. I have showered and cleansed my face but I don't plan to put on any makeup. But at least I don't look sloppy and I know that tomorrow I will be back in clothes that look great.

Thank you Mimi! It is good to see you. hurray How are you?

I have been very busy the last month and today I had a chance to get as much sleep as I really needed for the first time since I don't know when. I enjoy my work and I do lots of interesting things when I'm free but sometimes it's just too much.

Well, I learned today that a bra has a 6 month life span. Who knew?

I decided that I needed all new under garments, so went to the mall. The clerk measured me and I commented that my bra doesn't fit like it used to. When she asked how old it was, I told her and she raised her eyebrows. Said they only last 6 months. Now, I'm too embarrassed to tell you how old most of mine are. In fact, I was so embarrassed I came home and threw most of them out. Suffice it to say that none of them were only 6 months old.

I only had enough money to buy one, but decided to get one per week until I get a new supply. Geeze, next they'll be telling me that under pants only have a 3 month life cycle.

It could be expensive to be a goddess....

I didn't blush

Is that from the date of purchase of from when you start using it? I have a tendency to buy clothes when I stumble across something I like which means that I have a supply of bras at home that I haven't used yet.

But honestly, if a salesperson told me that the product she is selling has a limited lifetime I would accept it with some reservation. On the other hand I am always in favor of buying new underwear. So what did you get?

I heard that a long time ago.....Tucktummy is probably our resident expert on bras.

The lifespan of a bra would, I think, be contingent on how much you wear them and how you wash them. I don't know where they get that figure but that elastic could easily lose it's stretchiness.

Bras have a shelf life? Oh dear.

Every time I go bra shopping, they tell me I'm wearing the wrong size. Maybe that's because they've been through 5 years of pregnancy and breastfeeding (and counting). They seem to change every few months, but I haven't bought a new one in 3 years. Guess I know what to put on the Christmas list!

Sometimes I think getting rid of corsets wasn't such a great idea...

Had a Goddess moment at church of all places this weekend. New church, and at least 3 people came up to us at coffee hour to tell us we were a cute family. I did spend quite a bit of time on the hair and make-up that AM, plus made sure the boys' shoes were polished and shiny, hair brushed like choir boys and pants and vests wrinkle-free. Nice to know it was noticed!

How did the party go, Cinderella?

Amen. So be it. Welcome, O life! I go to encounter for the millionth time the reality of experience and to forge in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race.

The party went ok.....I was expecting 15 kids and had 8 or 9. They played Life. They ate pizza. They watched Waterboy. They ate cake. They talked. Everyone who came is a high school senior so it was good for them to have hang out time.

On the bra thing gals, she said that they just lose their shape after about 6 months. Of course, I guess it does depend on how you treat them. They recommend hand wash, rotate them (like tires) but everyday, and store them with cups nestled inside of each other.

This is too much like work.

BTW - I bought Wacoal ($54). The saleslady said they were good. She's also the one who told me about the 6 month shelf life. I also bought a bridge in Brooklyn from her......

HOW do you rotate a bra??? You mean, like wear it on your back? Inside out?

I can't believe y'all are talking bras! A week or so ago I asked my mom to send me some new bras, mine had stopped "holding me up". I thought I'd be a little goddess-like and try to wear clothes that fit better. I'll give you a hint how old some of mine were: up until recently I still would occasionally wear nursing bras if the others were dirty.

I had no idea they had a shelf life either.

So my mom sent me 3 bras, and they were all over $50 each! One was over $60! Last time I checked I thought they were $18! Is my mom overspending (like she tends to do) or is this actually the going rate for reasonable bras for middle class folks?

Jayne, depending on what your mom bought, she's not overspending.

I love Wacoal bras but they are $50-60. sigh But, I really like them. I've heard that, once you wear them, you won't like anything else.

I thought you might be, just based on this conversation. You Goddesses sound like a very, well, uplifted group of ladies, indeed! laugh I told you once, long ago, that I was very inadequate Goddess material. My idea of bra shopping involves whatever looks the most like what I want as I hurry through Wal-Mart. If I'm really going "high-end", I might look at JC Penney's once in awhile. However, when purchasing for a couple of 60-year old boobies, short of a couple helium balloons attached to the nipples, there's not a lot that can be done to perk them up. Might as well go Economy Class. rotflmao

Thanks Cind! My mom has a history of spending way too much money just for the sake of waving a price tag around. And lately I've had to bail her out of a financial bind. So that's why I was cautious.

T&L:

YOU ARE MOST DEFINITELY GODDESS MATERIAL!!

Mainly because you are a HOOT!!

Plus, some of my favorite NIGHTGOWNS ("Secret Treasures") were bought at WALMART!!

Plus, AGE is not a FACTOR..I'm closer to your age than to most of the others here...

SO THERE....

Maybe instead of having a career as a nurse, I should've chosen to be a Hooters gal. think
