Many people present themselves quite differently depending on their audience. And depending also on their state of sobriety.

Quote
Aphelion: And as far as the remorse you mention. Nah, it’s only remorse for the consequences upon themselves. No adulterer, F or no F, has ever experienced true remorse over what they did or the pain they caused others. And none ever will. If you think you see remorse, ignore it. It is as fake and as full of self-serving lies as their adultery. Do not ever believe an adulterer or a former adulterer in anything. Period.

Cynicism def: An attitude of scornful or jaded negativity, especially a general distrust of the integrity or professed motives of others.

I am curious about the reaction of the FWS's and WS's on the other site to comments like this? Do they welcome such comments about FWS's?

Oh no, there are no such comments made by him there that I saw...the posts were firm, yet supportive...No doubt he's a very intelligent man that has a lot of good stuff to offer when he chooses to...

Sheesh, where do you guys get this stuff?

Mrs. W,

I think you have me confused with someone else re that other board. I have perhaps a dozen posts max on their public forum during the entire past 18 months. None of them are significantly different from what I post here. They are not coddling WS or potential WS in any way there either. That site is less confrontational that MB in general, so I try to adhere to their more stringent TOS – which is what may be showing through.

My words here, and there, are definitely sincere. Believe me, I am way, way more sincere than any WS or FWS ever lived on this planet.

BK,

No agenda.

Simply put, I do not believe WS change. I simply do not believe it. Some of the issue is in defining cnahge, I suppose. But since you (and others) don’t like hearing it at all and are labeling me as well, I will stop posting. At least for a while.

For the record, I do not seek out and post to newbies. If I did, you would find the majority of my posts on JFO, right? Yet I almost never post there.

Sheesh.

RP,

Yes, I do define people by their actions, or lack of them. That is precisely what I wrote, if a mite long-winded. Glad you caught it.

Weaves,

You are still a gem. Forged in fire and under great pressure. Perhaps flawless, near as I can tell.

2L,

You promised you would not tell. Will you remove it?

I see. So he told them that their "recovery" was "fake" and they were full of "self serving lies" and that they did not have true remorse? And "Do not ever believe an adulterer or a former adulterer in anything."

And this resulted in a productive dialogue? How very odd that such a deragotory, mean stereotype would produce a productive dialogue. Go figure.. I would have liked to see that, since I have not seen anything productive result from those remarks over here.

In fact, if I had seen that kind of cynicism when I arrived as a freshly betrayed BS, his comments would have affirmed my viewpoint that "once a cheater, always a cheater" and I should kick the bum to the curb. If you don't believe me, go back and read my first posts about the "low man" to whom I was stuck.

Oh no **edit**, I'm quite sure I'm right, (2long's now edited post only serves to confirm it 100%) and I would guess that recommending reconciliation would not be a part of the TOS there...

while Aph may see some things differently than some others here, I haven't seen anything that calls into question his honesty.

While I don't think the cynicism is necessarily great for ALL newcomers, it would certainly serve some very well. When I showed up here, people gave BryanP a hard time for his direct and negative comments about my situation....and he was dead right.

I think some WS do change...but that the majority, even those that come here, do not. More often than not, a persons actions DO define them...especially if done long enough.

Mrs. W

Thanks a lot, Mrs W.

But for the record, I'm more convinced than **edit** that we're not talking about the same thing.

Sorry **edit**.

Lies of omission are still lies no? He's not being overtly dishonest just not being forthcoming.

WHat we do becomes our character for sure. Peoples actions DO define them.

Not at all. I was merely hoping not 2 perpe2ate this.

In the interest of being "forthcoming" or "honest" (your words), why not post under your real name? Point being, Appy asked me 2 do a thing, and I slipped and didn't do it.

Do you know the difference between truth and honesty? Secrecy and privacy? They're pretty big.

All right, for crying out loud.

I asked 2L to remove his reference to **************edit**********.

Geez, you guys. Some of you are like vultures.

Why yes I do!

Aphy has been honest but not truthful in that he has posted partial truths but not the complete truth so people are left with a false impression of where he is coming from.

I won't be the only person on this site posting under my real name. If you think that's important, feel free to lead the way yourself.
