Gift cards to the store of her choice. Target or Wallyworld would be easy.

Count me in!

About formula - IIRC it has directions on the can. How much water you add depends on which version. The nurses should be able to tell you what they've been using and how to prepare it.

Also IIRC Babies-R-Us has supplies for quite cheap, if you have one nearby.

Otherwise, is Target the preferred store for giftcards? Can I buy one online, cus I don't think we have one here.

Also... um, who do I make it out to? I'm not sure they'll find you if I just say "Send it to ChaiLover on MB!" Did I miss some information?

You'll do great. *hugs*

Well, count me in for the shower! Take care of you the best you can right now, Chai. Don't you take any carp off of that daughter of yours either. We love you.

Hi Chai,

Cinders put out an APB for help and I'm glad we can all get involved.

Don't know all the details yet but I'm praying for you and your DD/DGS.

Cinders,

Can you give Chai my email addy? I have a ton of little boy clothes and prolly a half ton of baby toys that I can pass along.

A lot of the clothes he might have to "grow into" but I think I might even have some itty bitty stuff.

Chai dear,

The baby CAN sleep in the car seat till you get a crib. They recline now, and on nights when my littles were REALLY little and VERY snarfy (couldn't breathe laying down) the reclining carseat was a GODsend! It's not a permenant answer, but it's an okay make-do for a few days.

Chai
What i would like you to do is this:

Go to your local Target.

Register in your own name.
Pick a "shower date"-- Maybe a few- three Saturdays away from now-

Register for Dozens of bags of diapers--they keep
dozens of wipes-- powders,lotions--they keep
baby bath--a large quantity of conusmables.
baby towel, shampoos, laundry detergent
Pick out onzies
formulas-
baby thermometer,
woobies(binkies) bottles, bottle warmer,
oh my god, dozens of socks (how something that can not even stand up or walk can loose a sock a day was always beyond me!)
also you can try larger baby equipment--who knows.

If there are any left overs (if he grows too fast)
I'm sure a church or womens shelter would love to have them. hurray

THEN you need to come back here, POST THE STORE NUMBER (or town) and Post the name you registered under, remeber you will be able to swap or "return" multiple bought items --for cash-- and I'd rather have you in charge than DD.[/u]

IMHO
ALSO YOU ARE GOING TO NEED SAFETY equipment when your GS comes to visit in the future you will need cupboard locks, and the like

You may want to look at that stuff too.

You can trade multiples and always donate that excess-- if there is any
There will be no shipping -- you can pay in Michigan- she picks up in Kentucky-- NO PROBLEM
A friend at work just used this for an out of state shower-- she said it was awesome. and easy!

I really hope this helps you, and I am thinking about you- too.

Don't forget to add the Mylicon drops (for gas) to your list!

Hi CL,

Quote
Oh my goodness. I am in tears to think that so many people who don't even know me could be so thoughtful and generous. I don't know what to say. Barbie, thank you so much for offering to do this. I don't know how I could ever thank all of you or how I could ever repay you. I have never been so touched. Thank you so much. I'll email my info to you.

...this is so touching to see. I am not in the States, so I am not sure yet how I can help. Will try to figure it out, though.

So, tomorrow I could be bringing home a 5 lb newborn and I don't have the slightest clue on how I'm going to manage by myself.

...when faced with a lot of "unknowns" as you are, CL... feelings of being overwhelmed and fear itself may often be not far behind... but we here have already seen you in action, CL. Please trust that you will have the strength and courage to come through to the 'other side' as you have so far...taking it one day at a time...

...and encourage you to not forget about yourself even in this period of extreme challenge, and to seek out any and all support available in your immediate community.

...to see it as an opportunity for and trust that some of your friends will come through for you and provide you with their support when times get tough, as I can't see anybody not being "touched" by your act of generosity and sense of responsibility towards this newborn, who one day will know WHO came through for him, right from the "get go"!

Amen to that! Chai is one special grandma who's willing to go ABOVE and BEYOND. I'm hoping that she and this grandchild bond so tight that NOTHING can come between them.

It is interesting that hubby is so hard-hearted that he won't even help to save his grandson.

Hope Chai is doing okay with all the baby things today.

Chai,

Oh I can't wait to go Baby shopping! One of my favorite things to do!

So, today you pick up 5 pounds of pure love! WOW! You are going to do just fine! It's kinda like riding a bike,,,,it will all come back to you. What a lucky little boy he is to have you!

And, don't forget all of the Aunts and Uncles he has here at MB!! I don't think you'll be away all that much,,,,as you can come here for all of the support, advice & love we have to give to you both.

I know it's got to be an overwhelming feeling,,,but do try to remember the moments of joy you will also be feeling in the coming days/weeks.

Maybe you should start a new thread for daily Baby Boy updates??

hug

On the baby bed thing...Baby D slept with us or in his carseat, he hated his bed (and still does)! Newborns really like being enclosed since they are used to that, so the carseat is great, OR I found this mini baby bed thing that you can put in your bed. It's been a life saver!!
