UGH!

Which "her" are you talking about? I'm assuming the ExW?

A pharmacist friend of mine just filled a prescription for zovirax.

Well, depending on the source of the information, that sounds like a HIPPA violation

Just gotta ask - I thought you haven't had SF with her for 2 years. You should get tested, but should be fine.

Can't it lay dormant? I'm not clear on herpes so I don't know...

It can lay dormant, but if he has no symptoms up to now, he should be fine. They can do a blood test for it.

I've never so much have had a fever blister in my whole lifetime.

To my understanding, some people are just naturally immune to it.

Still, she's a filthy pig.

And Rivera, don't touch my post.

I'm freaking ANGRY!

I don't think there are people that are immune to it. I forget the statistics, but there are lots of people infected with herpes. It used to be around 20% of the population, but it is much higher in some places.

But I would think you would have had some symptoms by now, like a boil in the genital area that might itch at first and then tingle and burn.

Some people are asymptomatic. You should probably get checked out for HPV too which can be asymptomatic as well. I'm sorry, Pariah. It stinks that you have any risk at all.

I do think it's probably something she picked up more recently though.

Ask for the blood test. It will give you the specific type of Herpes and you don't have to have an outbreak to be diagnosed. What I have read is that it can lay dormant for many years.

Sorry you have to go through this.

Just got back from the Dr.

I'll get the results soon.

The prescription dates back from starting in 2003, the time we moved into the same neighborhood as OM and she started going off on these dive cruises with her sister.

All I can say is that I know how you feel. Ex-H got herpes from OW. I had to tell the Dr. and get the test. It was embarrassing as heck. Luckily, I hadn't contracted anything. It is infuriating though so hang in there and whatever you do, don't shoot her!

Let me get this straight: your pharmacist friend told you to get checked for STDs based on the fact that your ex-wife had a prescription for zovirax in 2003?

Acyclovir is prescribed for more than genital herpes; it's an antiviral that can be used for Epstein Barr and shingles (herpes zoster).

Your pharmacist friend ought to have his license yanked, IMHO.

The HIPPA means squat to me when it affects MY health. To me it's kinda like criticizing the person who exposes an affair to a BS.

She had been keeping the zovirax secret from me for how many years?

If it was a simple antiviral, she wouldn't need a regimen dating back six years, no? She is STILL on it.

I was in school to be an RN when I got shot and pharmacology is one of the studies.

I ain't stipid, I know exactly what it's most commonly used for.

WHat if she had been taking AZT for all those years and I just now found out from the pharmacist, otherwise I'd have never known.

Pariah you aren't the only person in the world to have used the knowledge of a friend to get information or to have information given. It happens all the time. We've all done it or had it done. Sorry you are going through this.

Hugs
Ronda
