Just looking for an update about how things are progressing for Lil and Flick on the upcoming Fireman's stairclimb.
Is he going to make it to the top? Is he practicing?
Are all arrangements made? How is the fundraising going?
Who all from MB is going to show up?

Is he going to make it to the top? Or die trying we are fighting for treadmill time. Last night he ran thru the neighbours farm. Are all arrangements made? We have a hotel to stay at, which reminds me, if the seattle people want/need to know where we are staying at, email me. Only the ones I know thanx. How is the fundraising going? amazingly good actually, but more is always better. We don't get to keep this money, and it is for a good cause. Sponser Flick Who all from MB is going to show up? Yes, who??? Flick is at work right now but I'll get him to post after breakfast. He knows more details like times and stuff.

If I'm in town I'll be there. H and I have soft plans to be up at Whistler that week, and if H wants me there with him, of course I want to be there. If not, I will be at the Columbia Tower to support Flick. It's fantastic he's doing this.
Any details about the when and where to meet from Flick or Lil might be helpful.

YIKES, we can't have a FWH dying on us!!!!!!!!!!!
I have an airline ticket, going up there on 3/1, but still don't have permission from my boss to take leave. I have tons of leave, but as usual, he says we are too busy. So I'm hoping to be there.
Hopefully someone has a camera and can post some pics. I know there are quite a few MB members in the Seattle area. By the way, I'm hearing that they are having wonderful Spring weather there - 48 degrees.

Hey, now. It's currently a balmy 54-degrees and sunny.
(Probably won't last, but it's here now. And that's what us Seattlites hold on too, to get through on those non-balmy days.)

LOL, glad that it is "warm".
It cracks me up because my son is there, living with my sister, going to school and helping my mom. Son has lived in SoCal all of his life. Yesterday he was telling me that he went fly fishing because it was so warm. I didn't tell him that it is 75 degrees here.

Who all from MB is going to show up? Hi Things are going well. I still have two good knees and the old hips still work, that is my way of saying I'm fit and ready. Yes I will make it to the top! No doubt about it. It is only a few little stairs, nothing to it, well not much to it, actually I'm not that good at telling lies - it will be a hard climb, but I will make it. Arrangments are all made, we know when we get there, we know when we leave and we know what happens in the middle. Looking forward to meeting everyone who has said they are coming (I hope everyones plans work out for them). The climb time is not yet known, but I should have that information in a few days, I'll post it when I have it. It is likely to be early in the day, my best guess would be between 9am and 11 am, but that is only a guess. Who all from MB is going to show up? Good question. I know of 6 people who have said they will come (if they can get away from work and stuff), I don't know if they have mentioned it on this forum so I can not say who they are. If anyone wants to come and meet us the best thing to do is to email Lil lildoggie@ymail.comand she can communicate with y'all. Fundraising is going good around the $500(US) mark when I looked last. My new helmet is getting painted this week, I don't know what it will look like yet but the ones from previous years have been spectacular, flames and the New Zealand flag. They cost us a few hundred dollars each and we pay for them out of our own pockets. Our decorated helmets are much envied by other fire fighters and are very eye catching (a hint for anyone looking for me on the day). Regards
Flick

Well, my mom, sis and son are going to be there to watch, whether or not I can get there.
My mom is so far, a survivor of a very agressive form of lymphoma. And I'm so thankful that you'all are raising funds. She was diagnosed right after my dad died last year, and has enjoyed a whole year of living life and her garden thanks to her treatment. (She will be the old lady with no hair in a pink hat).
My sis is an attorney who works on 3rd and Pine. She and my son look just like me. Watch for them.
I don't remember if there are any restaurants nearby. Are there plans for the NZ firemen to meet anywhere? I would like to buy you all some appetizers and drinks.

That will be perfect! Let me know. My family is Irish - in fact, we have pictures of my great-grandfather's home in Ireland.
And I promise I won't tell my sis where it is. She is single and I'm sure would love to meet some HOT NZ firemen.

The only pic of you I have ever seen was of you on your XWH's bike. Somehow I am struggling to imagine you with a pink hat, no hair and the leathers..... I don't remember if there are any restaurants nearby. Are there plans for the NZ firemen to meet anywhere? I would like to buy you all some appetizers and drinks. Um, I'll email you our hotel info. It might help for arranging a meet up. I have no idea if the hotel has computers available for clients as the info said it has free wireless, meaning they think we will bring our own laptop...and ours blew up a couple of months ago

Hey, Flick. I read a short article in Seattle Metropolitan Magazine last night about a 58-year-old firefighter who will be doing the climb. His name is Dr. Dan Nelson. He's a chiropractor and an exercise physiologist who decided at 44 that he wanted to become a firefighter. His father died of leukemia. Nelson did the climb last year and it took him 21-minutes 52-seconds. The firefighter who won was 40-years-old and did it in 11-minutes and 30-seconds. Nelson is training by doing stairs at the University of Washington's football stadium with an air mask and 60-pounds of gear. Eykarumba! He's going to submit a blog about the climb the day after on the magazine's website at www.seattlemet.com/blogs/met-files. I know you're doing a blog too. Anyway... I thought you might want to size up your competition.
