I swear I thought he was a woman the first time I saw him. "Eddie" should've been a clue, but...

Can't believe you haven't heard of him! He's been one of my favorites for a long time. Puts Robin Williams to shame.

He was on a short-lived TV show that was really good (and I watch practically *no* TV). "The Riches"

If they ever do a remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, I nominate Eddie Izzard for the role of Dr. Frank-n-Furter.

Maybe he's Robin Williams' heir?

I'm betting it has something to do with Skatt and legallities. Hope he is doing ok.

TM: All's cool. Sit tight. We're discussing Cake? or Death? And Eddie's great clips about fences and horses behinds.

LOL

Right?

I wish they'd do a remake of that movie. We had a discussion the other night (H and I) about who should play all the roles. Eddie Izzard was the first and most obvious choice for Tim Curry's role.

Now I'm trying to figure what we said for the others.

I thought Taylor Swift would be great reprising Susan Sarandon's role.

Cake or Death? Interesting choice. Given the road I have traveled, you can imagine what I think about cake these days. And yes, I imagine that fences will act as an equally potent trigger.

Death as it pertains to marital finality? THAT, I can accept. You know what my pal Forrest Gump says:

"Mama always said, dying was a part of life."

And I have come to accept the fact that the death of my M is just a part of MY life. What is critical for me to keep in mind, though, is that the sheer demise of my M doesn't define my character nor does it illustrate any inherent flaws which ultimately prohibit me from sufficiently contributing to a mutually beneficial relationship. Geez, that's a mouthful, huh? Translation into English? How about this:

It doesn't define WHO I AM nor does it define WHO I CAN BE.

Okay, enough esoteric analysis. I guess that happens when I've been on hiatus most of the week......

You now see a new moniker. Let me first explain this item. I don't want to be like Prince. When Prince found things getting a little stale (or perhaps when the illicit substances were becoming more potent), he decided to become 'The Artist Formerly Known as Prince'. Life was NOT stale for me, and unless the illicit substances were embedded within Ben & Jerry's ice cream, we can safely rule out that possibility as well. 'The Poster Formerly Known as TBC' is too wordy, it makes for a bad acronym ('TPFKAT' which frankly sounds like a cat coughing up a hairball), and it has the creativity of 'The Weather Channel'.

As you may or may not know, I am now a man without a thread. And, if I was an equestrian, I guess that would make me a threadless horseman. It is better that way, though. Whether this particular person notified me of my exposure strictly due to his desire to be a good Samaritan, or because he is OM (or somehow knows OM and signed on to rattle the cage of a guy doing his own fair share of cage-rattling), is beyond my scope of reality. He seems like a pretty straight shooter to me. What IS reality, though, is that I've been around these parts long enough to know that it's not as important how straight of a shooter someone seems to be, but how comfortable I am with being in the line of fire. I'm not, so the thread was relocated.

This person seems rather knowledgable of MB concepts. From what he says, he seems to incorporate a lot of MB core values into his M. He could probably contribute quite a bit around here. I know he could certainly opine regarding the need to adequately cover one's tracks. Just because he made the effort to learn about me doesn't make him a bad guy. Maybe a guy who might benefit from putting more time into golf or gardening, but that's neither here nor there. (That was a joke, if you are reading this.....)

I tried to think of a really pithy name for a new thread but nothing really clicked. 'Blue and Black But Decided to Come Back' just didn't work for me. So, OH, if you don't mind, I will hang my hat here for awhile. Don't worry, I'll pick up after myself. And if I'm left unattended for an extended period of time, I promise not to invite all of my friends over in order to have a big party while I've got the run of the place.

Cake or Death? Well, I did love that show 'Six Feet Under'.....

Hanging in there and doing alright,
TBC

I haven't watched this bit but he has a freaking hilarious segment on snowboarding. Pretty accurate too, LOL.

"He" freaks our kids out, hahaha. Kinda can't blame 'em.

Nah. We've already trashed LG's pool. I'm not worried if the entire rowdy gang comes here to party it up!

If you haven't watched the short clip on Cake? or Death? that I posted up top, please do. I guarantee you will find it funny.

I'm assuming your kids are older than TBCs? Warning to all parents, this guy is just FILTHY and CRUDE, but funny as all get-out. Set your parental viewing guides accordingly.

I also think it's a testament to how good he is that, a few minutes into watching his stand-up routine, you forget he's in drag.

p.s. He and Minnie Driver starred together on a great show, "The Riches". I don't watch much TV. In fact until I got married, I never even owned a TV. The fact that I *hate* sitting down and watching TV for TVs sake drives my husband nuts. (but I guess that's another thread...). So I only watch a very few things. Football when I have vested interest in either team. (can't stand to watch hockey if it's not live..ditto for all other sports) Jeopardy! with the family when we've got the time---we actually DVR the week and try to watch it in bits and pieces over the weekend since I have a strict "no TV" rule for the kids during the week. And only two shows recently that draw me in enough for me to make time to watch them live or on DVR: Friday Night Lights and The Riches.

Of course, anything I like instantly gets cancelled, so you have been warned. Don't recommend to me any show you honestly enjoy. If I get hooked, it's gone...guaranteed.

Anyway, the premise of The Riches is that Izzard, Driver and their three kids are "Wanderers" (gypsies). There's a power struggle within the tribe and Izzard needs to take his family and GTH outta there. While they are racing away, they smack into another car and kill the other couple driving. They're already living life below the radar and the gypsies make their living running elaborate money-making scams on innocents. So it makes sense to them to just assume this couple's identities. Turns out the guy is a high powered lawyer and they just purchased a mega-house in a new neighborhood, which is where they were headed when the accident happened.

So now Eddie Izzard's character has to report to work as a lawyer and his wife has to play the classy suburbanite. They get their three kids (in a twist of real/tv life irony, the youngest son is a cross-dresser) into a tony private school.

Both Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver are British, yet they pull off the American (and in Driver's case, southern!) accents perfectly.

The series had...2 or 3 seasons I think. Try to find it on Hulu, YouTube, etc. I can't recommend it highly enough (but then again, you've been warned about the stuff I like on TV, so you might HATE it if you like things like Celebrity Apprentice, Biggest Loser, etc.).

And to bring it all back around to Marriage Builders, the two main characters have a very healthy and romantic marriage. Lots of MB stuff going on there...even while they're lying, cheating and stealing everyone else blind!
