I agree - movies that depict adultery are very hard for me to watch - and I was never even been BH!
I'd question Shreck II - didn't the princess almost go off with the prince?
You could add any of the Star Trek movies. You could also add any of the Star Wars movies, except Phantom Menace, which wasn't worth watching anyway

Hi BitBucket, Thank you for adding to the List!!
In Shrek 2, The princess thought that Prince was Shrek, she was being tricked into thinking the Prince was Shrek, so she was not being unfaithful. Even better, she recognized that he was an "alien"/imposter, but she couldn't put her finger on it. As a Former Betrayed Wife, I identified with the fact that she "knew" this alien wasn't her husband, as well as the fact that her true love/husband fought heaven and earth to make it back to her. In my humble opinion, Shrek 2 stays on the list as a triumph of love over evil.
Thanks again for your comments, I certainly appreciate the opportunity to re-think, and welcome other comments, whether agreement or disagreement! I think it is helpful to those who are considering any of the movies.
We saw Crash this weekend and it was awesome, and trigger-free for me. We loved it so much we recorded it when it played on showtime, (after we had rented it from Blockbuster!).

We've been watching the DVD of last year's feature film "Pride and Prejudice" (which is my wife's favorite book.) She is also very fond of the DVD of the 1995 miniseries.
The story has particular resonance for me nowadays because to me it is the story of how the romantic lead (Mr. Darcy) is willing to change in order to earn the good opinion of the woman he loves - and he does so with no guarantees that things will work out for him in the end.

Thank you so much for the recommendation, I actually had the opportunity to watch it this weekend (it was a Showtime Freebie) but came late so didn't linger. I'll watch it for it next opportunity. (I'm familiar with the story and author, having been an english major).

It's funny, we watched the Keira Knightly film on Monday and Tuesday night. Then last night, my wife decided we would watch the DVD of the 1995 miniseries of, you guessed it, Pride and Prejudice. (The one with Colin Firth).
(She thinks the miniseries is a better production than the film, btw...)
Oh - I think you are right on the money about Shrek 2. Great analysis!

Thanks CC!
I'll definitely watch for the different versions of Pride and Prejudice.
Has anyone seen "The Scarlet A" with Demi Moore? I haven't and wondered if it romanticized the Adulterous relationship?
This weekend we saw "The Constant Gardener". This one is tricky, but we both enjoyed it in the end. Any comments on whether this one could be a trigger or not?
Maybe we're far enough along in Recovery that we appreciated the truth that was revealed more than we were triggered by the initial suggestion of impropriety.
Thanks again for your comments, CC and BB!

a point with the scarlet letter....I've read it and a point of the book was that the husband was a horrible, horrible man AND Hester thought he was dead. this is lost in the movie and was much more about Demi's boob job. the best part about the book is the daughter out of the "affair", Pearl. she's a little light of joy and wisdom - that child you see in messed up families where you think there! there! it could skip a generation! but I'd skip the movie (albeit late for this thread) just on the fact it's a horrible take on yet another classic piece.
thanks, cohosalmon WW(me)-34 BS-34 married 2003 DS(WW's M-1)-14 DD-4 DS-3

I think the best movies I have ever seen are the "Love Comes Softly" series. I am not one to watch a movie more than once but I think I could watch these every day! They are loaded with family values. I can't say it enough- I LOVE THESE MOVIES!

You should definitely include The Notebook. It is one of the most romantic movies of all time. It is also a very powerful tear jerker. Check it out.
