Adieu, the years are a broken song and the right grows weak in the strife with the wrong The lilles of love have a crimson stain And the old days never will come again
(Australian Soldiers diary)
For my Husband, my Dad, my Brother soldiers all
and for all the men and women who have served and have given the ultilmate scarifce, and for those that may still serve like those of my family. They give so we may live free.
remember the slain
remember the injured
remember those they left behind
remember and pray
you know, after being a soldiers daughter, I never wanted to be a soldiers wife. Who said God does not have a sense of humour.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

As a minister's daughter I said I never wanted to be a minister's wife. I even met DH in a bar way back when. He's a minister today. Go figure. /TJ I want to add to this thread by saying I'm very proud of my son who is in the Army. I thank ALL of our military people for their service to their country.

I'm still awake yer know I saw that comment. Are yer sure yer not talkin to me mum or nanna??????? for some reason they say the same thing !! about me anyways well half awake as hubby is awake cause he doesn't sleep much right after a deployment. He's not used to a roof over his head yet. hard lesson learned for Mil wives - don't try to get them to change to less risky jobs. He'll look at you and the look will break your heart and he'll say something like 'Luv I didn't join up to run away". I guess he didn't did he. But man it sucks big time like and the Army wins again. crap did I say that aloud? anyways don't fight the Army it will run yer over. well lets see if we can't get the man back to bed for awhile.

This is the poem spoken at ALL Canadian Remembrance Day ceremonies for YEARS. It was written by John McCrae in May, 1915. To this day, I get tears in my eyes when it is read.
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
To my grandfathers and friends how have fought and continue to fight today, THANK YOU

By the rude bridge that arched the flood, Their flag to Aprils breeze unfurled, Here once the embattled farmers stood, And fired the shot heard round the world
The foe long since in silence slept; Alike the conqueror silent sleeps; And Time the ruined bridge has swept Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
On this green bank, by this soft stream, We set to-day a votive stone; That memory may their deed redeem, When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
Spirit, that made those heroes dare, To die, and leave their children free, Bid Time and Nature gently spare The shaft we raise to them and thee.
~ Emerson
