Cigarets are highly addictive. Do you (whoever wants to respond) think that anyone who tries smoking cigarets enough times will become addicted? Or, in your opinion, is there a predisposition to becoming an addicted smoker?
Here's the thing, it's kind of moot. The poor addict still needs to quit.

Addiction is a very hard issue to pin down. The medical diagnosis for it classifies it as a psychological problem. One of A.A.'s breakthrough pronouncements was that alcoholism was an 'allergy of the body and a compulsion of the mind.'
No one disputes the fact that both heroin and alcohol are addictive.
But if you put 100 people in a room and dosed them daily with heroin for 30 days, you'd have 100 heroin addicts.
However, if you put 100 people in a room and dosed them daily with alcohol for 30 days, you'd only have about 10 alcoholics.
And those ten would think they were "normal" - just like the other 90.
Preach the Gospel every day. When necessary, use words. St. Francis of Assissi
