Nellie, Are you on any medication?
I went to my general practictioner and she called our therapist. Together, they agreed that I needed antidepressants to help me sleep/cope. I don't plan on taking them forever, but you'll notice a change in the tone of my posts if you go back a month or more.
Just a suggestion from a formerly suicidal mother of three, ages 7, 9 and 13.

[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] LIZ
------------------
When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. sobeit and janie,
Thanks for your responses. I wish I could say I was feeling better - I went to work today and two hours later got a call because my son was sick - he was feeling so awful that he was crying. Took him to the doctor, car came close to overheating on the way home - I don't know what is wrong with it but it will probably cost a lot. My sister sent me a very early birthday card, wishing me joy during the next year, telling me how much her life improved when she was about my age. Somehow the last thing I needed was someone wishing me joy.
Liz,
No, not on medication. I went to see a shrink right after my H left, who said he would give me meds if I wished, but it was fine if I didn't. I just read an article in the paper describing a double blind research study which indicated that the newer anti-depressants (not lithium) were only slightly more effective than placebos in relieving depression, though they did tend to "flatten" mood extremes. I don't drink or even consume much caffeine, and the few times I have had medication to treat symptoms of things like bronchitis, the side effects (eg. nervousness) were terrible.
