Well, my first home health assignment was bowel program (digital stimulation) for a man who was quadriplegic... just turned 60.
When I first got full time at my current facility, they asked if I'd be leaving... I said, nah... I can work this schedule. Besides, it's probably nice for you to keep a familiar face.

For you, Pep... a second hand story about facing adversity with humor... hidden from sensitive eyes behind spoiler tags; My CN is a wonderful woman, a nurse of 44 years. Her late husband was a pediatrician who succumbed to bowel cancer. She's told me of him holding a young patient who was undergoing chemo and was distraught that he had constant diarrhea. He held him and comforted him, getting completely soiled in the process without so much as a complaint or grimace.
My CN told me her husband had a stoma for his bowel, and they were in his Oncologist's office when the stoma came loose and several inches of his bowel were protruding in the open air.
She said he looked down, and said... "Oh, great!"
She expected horror, or fear, and what she got just kind of made her shake her head;
"I would be the first man to grow a second penis... and I can't even use it!" Have I ever mentioned that I love my job, and the people I work with? If you were in my area, Pep... you'd be probably be on my string for rehab.
