A really good, eye opening book about the futility of such counseling is "One Nation Under Therapy" How the Helping Culture is Eroding Self Reliance by Christina Hoff Sommers and Sally Satel, MD. It highlights studies that support Dr Harley's view that counseling is usually a waste of time at best and actually destructive at times.

There are going to be some misunderstandings to be corrected, and there are going to be some times we need to say "Hey, you think you're doing it, but you're not." And there are going to be some times we need to say "Hey, stop doing that, because that's ineffective, or harmful."

Sorry, I misread what you said about Facebook and thought you still had it.

Melody has posted excellent excerpts from Dr. Harley on dealing with childhood issues. It really is a distraction to what you NEED to be concentrating on right now. As for the rest, I can testify that MB will make you a better person all around, if you follow the program. You will have stronger boundaries, you will be more honest, you will more in control of yourself. I believe I am a better parent, even.

You need to be fully concentrating on your marriage right now. YOUR CHILDREN need you to be fully concentrating on your marriage right now. Your marriage is the foundation of their entire world - when it is strong, they are strong and happy; when it crumbles, so do they.
