It says videodisc player. It is an RCA model. The discs just say videodisc.

Did you have to flip the laser discs over? Boy now I feel old and dumb!!!

If those things are what I think you are talking about, yeah I remember them. Didn't last long.

My dad was a TV repairman (now who is old, whats a tV repairman?)LOL. Anyway, where he worked out of they also sold home entertainment stuff. He brought one home for the weekend to try out. I don't think we watched the whole movie, if it wasn't getting stuck, we could not get a picture. I was a kid at that time

I can say this now. I don't like the show. Too violent for me. Not my cup of tea. If I want violence, i can drive around Los Angeles .... there it is. My idea of entertainment is relaxing.

Pepper:

I don't like violence much, either. Turns out I missed it. I was busy studying the inside of my eyelids at 10pm last night.

The show was alright, I guess. A little too violent for my taste.

A friend of mine from Cd. Juarez, right across the border from El Paso, TX tells me that a lot of what happens in the show actually took place in real life. For instance the scene where a truck is left with a corpse, right at the checkpoint and the driver runs off towards Mexico.

I will be watching it tonight but I doubt I will watch it in the future.

I hope Mr. Pepper is not disappointed with my review. Will you tell what Mr. Pepper's involvement is?

Since you brought up the shameless "plug," I have a question for Mr. Pepper if you will...

I understand if he may not want to answer but here it goes...

I'm currently watching and there is the scene where the doctor is asking to get out. The scene's location is labeled as Houston, TX, but Houston does not have any mountains nor hills in the distance as the program shows.

Just wondering...

I only caught part of it. H came and turned the channel to catch the last of dragnet. I had left the room, he didn't know I was watching it. Since I had homeworked I claimed to be doing, I could not argue to change it back. Kids had cartoonnetwork on the other TV.

I watched the show a bit. Scenes were well rounded, things didn't seem out of place (JMHO of course).

A bit too much violence for me 2. My little one was in and out of the room for a while so I kept turning the channels. Didn't get to see the whole show.

I did see the part where he stuck up for his W in front of the spoiled brat guy and how he kept trying to protect his children from his 'work'. Even showed him trying to be a good dad. Yet his W was seen snorting coke. Hm.....

UC, sad to hear these things happen. Not surprised just very disappointed. Yuck..... life is often too painful to watch.

Can't put this on my list. I hardly watch more than the news and cartoon network!!! LOL!

Tell Mr. Pep, I would like to see him do other shows.....

LOL!

The whole KingPin show is shot in California. Mr. Pepper was also concerned about the script's violent content .... which is why I asked this question.

Orchid ... the show he did right before this one was a "Murder She Wrote" made for TV movie .... a show about murder, but never shows violence. BYW, that movie was also filmed entirely in CA, but is supposed to be Ireland!!!

PS ... Did you see the movie "Bedazzled" with Berendan Fraser? That Columbian drug lord house is in Santa Barbara. Tricky aren't they!

Pepper,

I know that scene was not filmed in Houston. My question was basically if showing mountains in the distance was a slip that no one noticed. I ask for curiousity's sake only.

btw, my friend from Ciudad Juarez watched it last night and said that the character "Chato" which is supposed to be the "enforcer" captures perfectly the image of the real "enforcers." He actually loved the show; so there you have it, a satisfied customer.

Overall, I have to tell you that in spite of the violence, the show was well produced and it seems to capture reality pretty well (with the exception of the Houston's driving range ).

I donno .... the episode shown last night (which I fell asleep before it came on and I did not watch) .... (? where was I? Run-on-sentence) ..... oh yeah, that episode was filmed before Thanksgiving ... and I can't remember past yesterday The show had excellent ratings numbers ... but, so does Joe Millionaire!

Well, violence or not, I loved it! Both episodes!

Heck, it's the first tv show I've watched WITH my w since I moved back home so I guess that might have something to do with it....but we all need a bit of brainless entertainment, and this fit the bill just fine for me!
