OMGosh -
I mentioned banjos! I actually love banjo music, but I was referring to "Deliverance" because my H and I look like Donny and Marie (you know, like all in the family kinda deal). I never once considered someone here might actually know how to play them. Cool!

Ah, Catnip, my first post. I was a constant lurker for a long time, and came back to check tonight. Thought my two years of experience might be of benefit to someone.
I am so much better now.
Thought it was kismet or something when I saw your name - probably a year ago, you wrote so well about the betrayal felt, the magnitude of a covenant broken, the "one flesh" destroyed transgression, vs. the "oops" just move on, will ya, stance my husband took.
But I digress. My user name doesn't really describe me (but date me, yes) I am Scandinavian, look like I should have been married to John Derek sometime in my life. about 5'7", of course the breakup got me back to a size 4. The divorce diet, I call it, see there is some good to come out of it. Personality - right out of Prairie Home Companion. Quiet midwesterner. Ever hear the joke, "how do you get midwesterners out of a pool?" you say, "please, get out of the pool."
Quite a contrast to my exhusband - looks like that actor with the last name Olmos - can't remember the rest - but family from was from Sicily, and had the old world machismo - a yeller, very much the intimidator. the man rules.
In spite of our differences, which made our relationship sizzle, I thought we had the same core values. I was wrong.

Hi Weirded Out
Ahhhh....."Deliverance". Because of that film we gotta play "Dueling banjos" at least twice at EVERY gig.....I hear it in my sleep! W calls it "Drooling Banjos". Of course our version of it is W on guitar, me on banjo. Folks love it.
Lets not forget "Bonnie and Clyde". Crowds go wild when we launch into "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" Heck, my 12 year old daughter can even play banjo on that one.....Its an easy one.
And the "Ballad of Jed Clampett"....never mind, you get the idea LOL
Take care!
Bill
PS: You oughtta get you a banjo and fool with it.....its a lot of fun!

XMAN: OK, let's par-tay! Wouldn't it be fun for all of us to get together and talk about fun things rather than our pain and misery? For just one night? You could play for us, and I know we have a singer somewhere on the forum. We have a blue grass place here in town where these extremely dedicated musicians get toether a couple times a week to jam together.
Honey West: What a great name...there used to be a tv show about a sexy female detective called Honey West, I think...is that where you got the name?
I was wondering if you're from here in Minnesota when you mentioned you were Scandanavian and the Prairie home Companion.
So do resemble Bo, Linda or Ursula?
I am flattered you remembered that post from a year ago. I remember writing it from the depths of my soul, clear to the bone, and being exhausted afterwards...and feeling cleansed. It was almost an exorcism for me. I really appreciate your acknowledgement of it.
Resilient: Daisy Fuentes...wow.
Tired Lady: I love Gloria...she's so exotic...so much more depth than that Russell kid.
Ok, the rest of you....now let's add a little more to the mix...tell us the part of the country or what country you are in and /or the city, your favorite movie and your favorite kind of music, favorite food, color, and zodiac sign...just for fun. And brag yourself up.
YOU MUST TELL US EVERYTHING WONDERFUL ABOUT YOURSELF, SPECIAL TALENTS, SPECIAL ACCOMPLISMENTS...
because, it's been so very long since we have felt really good about ourselves in many cases and this is a good way to remember our assets, and release some negatives. And those of us who have posted earlier, post again and add more data for us.
So, let the games begin...
Catnip =^^=

Ok catnip, you want details, huh?
Here goes:
I'm 31 and from Keyser, WV. I think I'm the only one here from this state. Oh, and I'm a Taurus. I just got my first job and I love it! I work with mentally retarded adults who want to live on their own.
My favorite movies have to be Steel Magnolias and Terms of Endearment. Both with Shirley MacLaine. My favorite actor is Murph...uh, I mean Mel Gibson (It's his looks! LOL).
I was a homebody until I had to go to work. I loved being home with my kids (3 sons). I love to read, do needlework, draw and be online! I also love to laugh. I have an excellent sense of humor. I do have a fairly high IQ, too.
I also consider myself to be a true friend. Usually when I make a friend, it's for life. I have one friend of 27 years and another of 19 years. We should have been sisters.
I have several phobias. I have a fear of flying, a fear of heights, fear of deep water, fear of thunderstorms. And they all get worse as I get older.
And I'm very proud to say that for someone who was never on her own until December of 1999, I'm doing pretty damn good!!
Mitzi [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

Boy Catnip, you want a alot of stuff.
Live in Gig Harbor, WA. Love it here. Moved here to be with H's family. Originally from So California. I love my job and work pretty hard at it. My number one passion is horses, Thoroughbreds & Quarterhorses. Don't own one right now, but saving and looking. Kind of a tomboy. I really like gardening and working in the yard/dirt, but this year I let things go (understatement). Next year things will shape up again. Love to cook and eat, and eat and eat. Favorite food is Mexican, gots to be authentic tho. Like to read alot.
I'm a Saggitarius and been told I really fit the profile. I'm a doer and a fixer, if someone has a prob I want to take action and do something to fix it. Love to have fun, play jokes, kid around and laugh. Have three Siamese. Pretty athletic and vocal little guys. Love kids, but don't have any, not from lack of trying either. Big sigh ...
Not really Religious but I am Spiritual. Love my friends, have a couple really good friends that I've loved and known forever. Love my H (was my best friend) and greatly admire his talent. Don't have an artistic bone in my body.
Since the A I've been finding new things out about myself, like being more resilient and not to judge others (gotta stay on that one). Very empathic to people I know and Love, when they hurt I hurt. Most important thing to me right now is to be true to myself and to be loved by others. And stop worrying so much!
Jo
------------------

Josie_Res@Hotmail.com
"Remain flexible like a reed, as opposed to an oak that will snap in the wind"

Jo...
My passion is horses, too! I have two purebred arabs and show both of them! One is hunt, the other western!!
Ok, my turn...I am 45, medium length dark red hair, 5'7", 155 lbs (I call it big boned!!)but a lot of curves...brown eyes, I have been called attractive, but can't really put my finger on who I might look like.
I truly enjoy my kids, my horses, movies, dinner out, most sports and good books. I own my own business and work hard at it. I have a wonderful circle of good friends that I can turn to whenever. I drink seldom, but do enjoy a good glass of wine, or a cold beer on a hot day. I want to remarry someday to someone who values me as a person, not as a mother.
------------------
Susan

Well, this is a nice change of pace... been Ded for 4 years now, my self-esteem is much better than it once was...
I have been told I look like a young Gloria Estephan(sp?). Long, light brown, wavy hair. Brown eyes. 5'7", about a size 8-9. One point away from being a genius (dangit), currently studying for my undergrad in nursing. Wear glasses (driving at night & watching TV), I don't have the nerve to put contacts in my eyes.
Ex is built like a tree. 6'4" and about 240. Black hair, reaallly long eye lashes(dangit, again). He has sleep apnea. I couldn't tell you how many times I literally *hoped* he wouldn't start breathing... yes, I hated him, at that point. Anywho, he sounds just like Sylvester Stallone, WHAT was I Thinking??!!
His new wife (then affair partner) looks like she was hit with the ugly stick at birth. Hehehehe... and her temper is worse than mine and his, put together! Believe me, there *is* a such thing as Karma!
The only beautiful thing to come of our marriage is our gorgeous little girl. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] She's a dark-haired sweetie. Very intelligent and soft-hearted.
Guess that's about it.
Mynabird

Cool Sue! Arabs are beautiful, so delicate and fine boned, yet still an endurance horse. I was raised Western but transitioned to English about 3 years ago. Kinda always thought English was a bit snobbish. Until I discovered Dressage.
Before affair was in training for Cross Country, love steeple chases. The more difficult the better, lots of jumping, tumbling and mud. Leased a Thoroughbred for a while, and trained and exercised friends horses for a term too. Been looking at Hanovariens. Talking about beautiful and expensive. Jeez! Love those warmbloods.
My equestrian activity has been on hold for some time now. I haven't sat on a horse in 6 mos.
Tell me about your Arabs, Sue. Where do you live?

I look like me. When God made me, he took one look, said "Uh-oh, I never should have taken that pee break" and broke the mold. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Seriously, though...my sister thinks I look like Linda Hamilton. But if I'm going to cast me in the movie, there's only one actress who can play me:
My soul-sister in sarcastic cynicism, Janeane Garofalo.

Kay, I've stayed away from this one for a while. But here goes. I am an academic, so I may get a bit long winded.
I am 40 yo, 5'6", 150. Lost about 25 lbs on the infidelity diet. Brown hair, green eyes, glasses. When I was a teen, people said that I looked like Elton John. Then a bit later that I looked like Michael J. Fox on Family Ties.
We currently live in Los Angeles, but I am moving with the kids back to San Diego, where I grew up. We are going to live with mom for a couple of months until I get a permanent job.
I haven't worked full-time in 7 years. I was a returning student, stating college at 34. Been going full time since then and working part time. Got up to my Master's in Social Welfare and one year of doctoral study, but got to take a break now. Did pretty well in college, undergrad summa cum laude, lots of awards, and all that stuff.
I don't really have a favorite movie. Haven't had time to watch many in years. My first wife and I used to go to Rocky Horror Picture Show in the 70's and 80's. Even dressed up and acted for a while.
My favorite book is "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn. I could go off on how this book changed my life, but I will just say pick up a copy and see for yourself. It is big (1000+ pages), but well worth the read.
The most important thing I have done (or will ever do) in my life is have my children. I have been married twice and have 6 children between the two. 3 boys and 3 girls, ages 23, 18, 17, 14, 6, and 1. No more for me. Vasectomy performed and I am now shooting blanks.
My other passion is helping welfare moms and dads. I won't get into this discussion here, but if you are having problems getting or keeping your benefits in California, I am the guy to talk to.
The ex is 34, 5'6", and is probably about 170 right now. She lost a bunch of weight during the beginning of the affair, but has gained it back since she moved in with him. I have a picture of her in which she could be Marlo Thomas' sister. Long black hair, dark eyes, Hispanic. She is still, even after all the feces, one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid my eyes on.
That's all for now. Talk to you all soon.

Even though I'm taller and really don't look like him at all I SEE DANNY DEVITO!! HELP!!!! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] I avoid the mirror!! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
W looks like Barbara Mandrell and OM REALLY looks like that guy that played George the handyman on Newhart (the one with the inn) he even acts like him only he never smiles and is kind of like his EVIL twin.
Favorite movie "The Godfather" Well, I am Italian after all [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

Hi again,
Yes Catnip, I was very young, but loved the TV show Honey West. Not such a bad role model.
Yes, scandivinavian family settled all over Minnesota, Iowa, Dakotas, Montana - Spent most of my summers out there growing up, but I am in Washington, DC. Look most like Linda Evans, I think.
This is a good cheery thread you started!

I don't watch much tv and since I have small kids I usually watch Disney movies at the theater! So, I have no idea who I can say I look like! I'm 37, petite (5'2" 110-115 pounds), blond hair (ya I pay to have it), and brown eyes. We live in Minnesota.

OK,
Since Bob went along with this too, I guess it's safe to enter the water.
I turn the big 40 in less than two weeks. I have been told I look like Barry Manilow, only with a bigger nose and before he turned buff. I'm a skinny little [censored]. 6 foot, a straping 150#, Brown hair, blue-green eyes depending on the weather and humidity. I have absolutely no sense of humor and am dead serious all the time.
Interests include ambulance, I love creating havok in traffic patterns, electronics and wood working. Get that table saw out any day. Still have all 10 fingers and toes. So you see I haven't been doing it long.
Val looks like Tanya Harding when she sports long hair and pulls it back, minus the club. She has the prettiest blue eyes, mousey brown hair usually with blonde highlights or go for broke all blonde. She turns 30 in three weeks. Yes, she robbed the grave. She is very outgoing with a bubbly personality.
I have two kids from the first marriage, T2 [Tim II, I always hated junior, poor kid looks just like me] is 18 and attending college for nursing and Tom, 15 is studying to become a couch potato. He will make quite the hash brown one day.
Also have two cats from the second marriage, TC [the cat] and Patches. Val has custody of the ankle biter, Squiggy, a Pekinese dust mop of a dog.
We all live in the Lehigh Valley, Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton area. I am one and a half hours away from Seaside Heights [favorite beach next to Va]. Less than an hour away from the famous Pocono's.
I own an ambulance service and plan on retiring in 5 years. I'm getting too old for this stuff. I'm going to plant my fat @ss down on Va Beach and not move until I'm dead.
That's pretty much the highlights from here. Don't want to bore you guys anymore.

------------------
"It's not over till we say it's over! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? H*ll no!"
