XMan,
Thanks for your comments - they are much appreciated.
AGG,
I agree about the ice cream - nothing even comes close to Breyer's mint chocoloate chip. My mother once packed some in dry ice when she came to visit when we were living in Colorado many years ago and couldn't buy it there.

Nonononono
Ben and Jerry's Mint chocolate chip! I used to eat an entire pint every Monday night between my class and my sorority chapter meeting in the cafeteria in college. For two years!! Needless to say, I felt like Ben and Jerry put together.

Indie,
Born in Lancaster, CA. Spent most of my growing up days in Huntington Beach, right down the street from "Beach City Dodge". Speaking of car dealers...Cal Worthington and his "dog" spot..Is he still around? My first H and I lived in San Pedro (YUCK!!) in a dinky apt across from LA Harbor...it had rats.
I share your sentiments about Southern Cal. Too expensive, too many people, and too much smog and funk.
Everyone else,
Sheesh. ya had to go 'n make things complicated [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Ben and Jerrys - New York Super Fudge Chunk
Haagen Daz - Dulce de Leche
Breyers - Vanilla (love the little bits of real vanilla in it)
oh, and the local favorite? Forget Dairy Queen. It's gotta be Zesto's Nut Brown Crown. Soft serve vanilla, dipped in chocolate and rolled in peanuts. The "medium" is piled so high that it's a race to finish it before the chocolate dip slides off.
