I'm in Sussex County NJ - anything in the metro area of NYC would be of interest...provided that I can get a POJA from my husband

I'm up for it.

I'm in CT, but close enough that NY is fine!

Thanks to those who keep bumping this - it just caught my eye. I"m in central PA, about 2 1/2 hours from NJ border or Philly. What date and time are you considering? I can't afford too much time off, but it sure would be nice to meet some of you wonderful folks and....PARTY!

It would be great to get togther. You, sunrise & I are in very similar situations and not too far away (When Im at my Mom's)

Did you post that you may be moving near Nashville?

God Bless,

Well, well, well. This thread has shown some activity while I was away yesterday.

Let me do a head count. Looks like there may be 9 interested individuals. If I miss anyone, please speak up (and forgive me for messing up):

1. Will Get Thru This - Near Philadelphia, PA
2. MAW64 - Massachussets (Near Cape Cod)
3. Newly - New Jersey
4. Catamount - Northern New Jersey
5. Bramble Rose - New Jersey
6. Kily - Connecticut
7. Broken x 3 - Central Pensylvania
8. Sunrise1 - New Jersey (Near Philadelphia)
9. Me - Connecticut

So when and where should we plan to get together? Any sugestions? Well let me take a shot at this:

Q.1.How does New York City sound? Is it too far for some of you? (Please give alternative suggestions for location.)

Q.2.Does the week of December 2 work for everyone? New York City will be dressed in all its finery for the holiday season.

Let's have an exchange of ideas on venue and date/time.

LI,

thanks for being the organizer.

I actually live in florida, but will be near Phila from the 20th to just before New Years.

If you guys do a NYC the week you suggested, I may suggest a Phila one over the Holidays. Not sure of the interest during that time frame ???

Now, if anyone wants to come the world's most beautiful beaches in the undiscovered part of florida, let me know.

Thanks for your kindness. You are a partner in this exercise. And thanks for clarifying that you live in Florida.

I'll wait to see the responses and may be we should have two get-togethers (One in NYC and the other in Philadelphia).

Logically, if I know a specific date I can work with it from there. The week of Dec 2nd may not work for me because I'm doing retail now and we all know how that is around the Christmas season. I can do one or the other, but not both, much as I'd like to!! Will Get Thru This, I have friends who just moved to West Chester PA, and I know how to get to King of Prussia mall- all the basics for Philly!! I'd love to try to connect with you and sunrise1 sometime this holiday season. And yes, at this point I am planning on moving to Nashville and getting the #%&% out of this town..to many memories, not enough jobs. More info as my life unfolds...

Not My Will,...:

Thanks for responding. So we are now 10. Looks like WGTT and Brokenx3 are inclined towards a get-together in Philadelphia end of Christmas week (is that right WGTT & Brokenx3).

I have suggested week of Dec 2 in NYC and await to see if there are willing participants. Please stay tuned ......

I'm Eastern Long Island also, and NYC would work great.

I may have a suggestion. I was once an IRC (Internet Relay Channel) operator, sort of like owning your own permanent 'chat room'. I had a regular crowd coming and we got to know each other quite well. Everyone was from all over the U.S. but mostly east coast. We planned a get together in New York City, well in advance. We all booked rooms in the same hotel, shared with each other (girl/girl kind!) or seperate rooms for spouses.

We had plans for where to meet initially, where we would have dinner, we had sweatshirts made up with our names embroidered on them for each person coming and we spent the first evening ice skating at Rockefeller Center under the lights of the tree. (We planned this for January, after the hectic holidays). The following day we did some sight seeing, and some had to head back to the airport. We only stayed one night in NYC (it can be very expensive!) but it was so very enjoyable to meet everyone!

If you need any help planning, let me know!

Thanks for your response. Keep tuning in so we can figure out when best to schedule.

Thanks for singing in to this thread. Could use all the help you could bring. You seem to have done this thing before, so it will be fun doing it with you. Any thoughts on the week of Dec 2 for a quick get-together? May be a more elabrate one to follow on after the holidays?

I would be glad to help set up a quicky get together, but I am not sure I could attend that week...I have a corporate party to attend in Long Island City the following Saturday afternoon and of course, work full time during the week. It's a tough time of the year but if others could make it, I would sure try, it's just a train ride for me if I have a babysitter!

There are many places to meet of course, I would suggest a landmark sort of place that is easy to find for others, something like a major hotel bar as the meeting place. If headcount is low for this close in time, I would plan it a bit more in advance.

Thanks for taking the lead. Much appreciated.

If you guys agree on the weekend before or weekend after Christmas (ie Dec 20/21/22 or Dec 27/28/29) it works for me. Let us all know as there may be more of us who may wish to join in.
