Under the GQ section of this forum there was a really interesting thread a few months ago.
Someone thought that it would be interesting to know how everyone came up with their User name. It helped everyone to understand a little bit more about our personalities.
I thought, in honour of the Holiday Season, it would be great to ask the same question here. So, tell us how you came up with your User name. I will start.
My self-esteem sank to the floor when I learned about my H's affair and the OC on the way. I questioned whether I was good enough, pretty enough, slim enough (I answered NO to all those questions). So, I became obsessed with makeup, dieting and self-improvement.
I became gravely ill but God spared my life. It was at that point that I realized that God must have some important work for me to do since he spared my life. I felt that I must now be one of his angels on earth, a heavenly body.
26 is our family's lucky number. My H is a SWAT team commander and 26 is the number of the room where his equipment is stored. Since God has protected him from harm all these years, we use 26 as our lucky number:
heavenlybody26!

I was a seed trying so hard to find the sunshine but not knowing where it was at.Flowerseed has sprouted and is now a big sunflower. When I first came here I think it was notgivingup called me sunflower by mistake . I had a good laugh it was first real laugh that I had felt in a very long time. With love flowerseed
------------------
Carol Ann

Well, the Tigger is because since I was very young, I've just loved him in all the Pooh stories, "4jdt" was my H's idea, and that stands for "for" and jdt are my H's initials. Just "Tigger" has already been taken by someone on a different section.
My husband is Sailorman59. He hasn't posted lately, because he has been so busy with work, and the ship getting ready for stuff. As you may have guessed, he is a "sailor" in the Navy, and 59 is the number of his ship. Nothing very significant, and believe it or not, my H thought of both our names. At least we now have the total honesty about that stuff. He has all the passwords to any of my email accounts, and vice versa. We are getting there, but I still struggle with myself when ever I am having a low day.

We are both looking forward to this Christmas. I am kinda looking at it as the first Christmas of our new beginning.

Merry Christmas to all of you, hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
Love,
Tigger
great idea heavenly!! it was fun seeing why people picked their names!! i love threads like this.
i picked happy_girl because i am usually a happy go lucky cheerful person. at least to the world. but after all the OC stuff came crashing down, i was not a happy person inside. so it was kind of something to remind me of the person i wanted to be again. and i like that country song happy girl too.
merry christmas to all of you. and if you don't celebrate christmas, then may the new year bring you much joy! happy new year to everyone!
happy_girl [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

My beloved cat of 13 years died in 1987...I know, I know, get over it. It's a cat.
Well, this cat had so much personality and was so incredibly intellegent that I could have hour long conversations with him as he would sit with me, watching me speak and would occasionally 'meow' his response. I swear he knew what I was saying.
My husband once told me, upon observing our cat's obsession and reaction to catnip, that I was like catnip to him...that I made him drool, I made him crazy and I was like magic to him.
(sigh) Oh, it was wonderful. To be loved so well, to be adored and appreciated. He made me feel like the most beautiful, the most desirable and the most exciting woman he had ever known. I had so much confidence, so much joy. See why I stayed?
I still miss my cat after 13 years, too. I can't get another because any other would pale in comparison. When my husband left me for those dark six weeks two years ago, I didn't seek anyone else out for the same reasons. I guess in my eyes they are both irreplacable.
I wish my husband would have felt that way...I thought he did. Imagine my surprise...
Catnip =^^=

Hi Heavenly,
Lynton is my middle name, and also my grandfathers' first name. I was essentially raised by my grandparents, as both my parents have worked for as long as I can remember. I was very close to my grandparents, close as only a grandchild can be. Grandpa was a huge man, six feet five, hands like steam shovels, I always felt safe when I was with him.

I hope grandpa is watching over me now.
I was very close to my grandmother, too, but I couldn't call myself Margaret Mary Monahan, now could I?
Merry Christmas and God bless you all,
------------------

Gregg

Sorry to be so late with this. Just now getting back to routines!
I have always tried to be very aware of my intentions with actions. Thus... Taking Care describes how I approach decisions. I like to ensure myself that my motive in all things is not self-centered and self-serving.
Also, if others in my life showed the care in their actions that I try to... well needless to say I most likely wouldn't be here.
Carolyn

I can feel Grandpa watching over me, even though he died when I was eighteen. He was six feet four, two hundred eighty pounds. A gentle giant.
We were buds, I miss him.

God bless you,
------------------
Gregg

Hey Gregg,
I'll play too.
My h and I use the same email account. His first initial is C. My name is Donna. So on our email account, we put cdcollins4ever (too mushy, I know). When I signed up here, I just put in cdcollins because I was so anxious to talk to others in this situation that I couldn't bear to waste a single second trying to come up with something clever.
-cd

For a minute I thought I had digressed back to December. The very month of D-day! You scared me.
Ok, now that I know what day it is.....
Zebra Baby.... I, being born in the late sixties was called a zebra baby ever since I can remember. I am of mixed race; black and polish.
For a while I resented being singled out by not being all black or all white. But as I got older I realized that I truely am the lucky one... I have the best of both worlds!
So in my adult years I began collecting zebras. It started with a figurine an employee gave me for Christmas and I couldn't stop. I have a million stuffed animals, lapel pins, water balls, pajamas, candles, bags, shoes, clothes, hair pins, earrings, necklaces, pencils, pens, magazine racks, pillows, and much much more. My favorite piece is a two foot tall four foot long paper mache zebra (in the lying position) that sits in front of my fireplace.
My poor husband shruggs his sholders everytime I bring a new one home. But I'm addicted. It's my signature.
So that's the history of the Zebra!
------------------
Zebra Baby ...
Lord, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Hey Zebrababy I liked your story...
Mine comes from my youth too...My Parents had a very tough life growing up...Italian immigrants when they were children...right after WW2..Mom always said EVERY ONE HAS A CROSS TO BEAR ....and I had lived a "charmed life"...well My charmed life is history..and I know now what "my Cross" is...and as mama says..it is how you "handle it" that makes the difference....I am trying to handle it with grace and dignity...But it can be too difficult at times...as you all know..

This is the first and only place I have ever used "Mrs. Job." (Everywhere else I am "espanglish" for the mangled English/Spanish combination I claim to speak. It really is just a joke since I am fully fluent in both languages.)Mrs. Job is obviously a Biblical reference to the trials that Job had to face and how he remaind faithful to God, even when he felt anger and even when his friends told him that he must have done something wrong to be so punished.
After reading something by Phillip Yancy last year (The Bible that Jesus Read) I realized that the story of Job is not the story of human pain, but rather the story of faith in the face of the largest trials life can throw our way.
BTW, unlike many Christians, I don't believe that God brings the horrible things in our lives to "teach us a lesson" nor to punish us. They come simply because we are human beings who are constantly screwing up God's great plans for us. We could have the "passive will of God" vs. the "Active will of God" argument all night long if you want, but I think I would still come out thinking the same way. I have Christian friends who believe just the opposite of me.
Oh remember that in the end, everything came out very well for Job (if you don't mind a new husband and different kids from the ones you had [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Gregg glad you pulled this one up from the bowels of the archives. It is interesting
Mrs. Job
