No wonder I feel so accepted here...all these cats lovers.
Thanks cd and Gem for your cat stories....I loved them.
My cat, who has been gone since 1986, was my best friend for 13 years. He was a huge orange tabby with a scar across his nose and piece missing from his right ear. But, I'd hate to see the other cat.
My cat, though a scrapper, was highly intelligent. We had many a conversation on social issues and world events and current affairs every evening when I got home from work and began cooking. He would drape himself over the raditor in the kitchen just to my right and I would look over to him and tell him of my day. He looked genuinely interested and he answered each pause in my sentences with a comment of his own. One morning, he came to the outside door to my bedroom that opened up onto the backyard. He sat waiting for my husband to come over to him, then ever so gently and carefully, opened his mouth slightly and presented my husband with the most beautiful butterfly moth I'd ever seen. It was a gift. The butterfly moth was every bit alive as my cat carried it in his mouth to present it to my husband.
My cat would hear my voice on the front porch and come running to greet me like a dog. He greeted guests the same way. Very welcoming.
We talk about our cat a lot, and he has been gone for many years now. But, to us, he is still a huge part of our lives and we do miss him, speak of him often and will always love him. I hope that we are reunited in the next life with all our loved ones including special pets that meant so much to us.
Now we are thinking of getting a dog! I fell in love with my son's dog when he had us babysit for him when he went to St. Louis for a party weekend. We miss that dog...and not just any dog will do! I want THAT one! But, my son and his little daughter are not willing to part with him.
Yap, yap, yap...who put a nickel in me?
Love to you all and thanks for your cat stories...they are very important members of our families, n'est pas?
Catnip =^^=
PS Carriemom! I'm so glad to hear from you! How was your weekend???
PPS Anniem: When I get settled in a few weeks, I would like to talk to you. You sound so full of despair...maybe we can help each other. I know you are going through a similar situation.
Catnip =^^=

Dear catnip,
One last thing about my cat. when we got it as a small kitten, we were told it was a female. It sure looked like a female, too. When third son began to talk, he insisted on calling the cat by saying, "here, boy" I kept trying to tell him that the cat was a girl, and he would cry and say "NO NO NO! BOY!" After another couple months, our cat's undecended testicles finally appeared, and lo and behold, he WAS a he. I like to this that third son knew that because the cat told him.
Have fun with picking out your dog. I sure love my bassett hound too.
with love,
cd

dear catnip, my prayers for you that they will be fair to you at this hearing on friday. i will remember to say a special prayer for you on friday in the morning. and that the judge will be fair.
i have a cat too. she is almost 6, she is black with yellow eyes, she only likes me and H. she hisses at everyone else. but she loves me best. she follows me around everywhere, and my H says she just knows when i am coming home, and runs to the door to wait for me. i love her lots. she also always knows when i am depressed or sad, and gets right up in my face to see what is wrong and nudge (kiss) me.
the funniest thing is that when H and i are play fighting, and he is tickling me and i am screaming and laughing, she attacks my H and bites him. like she is protecting me. i just love that.
get a dog. i will someday. my dad and stepmom have the best lap dog. i just love her. so sweet, kind of like my cat. she is mellow and just very lovable.
anyway, my prayers for you. you two have been through enough of this ridiculous child support amount.
love, happy_girl

Carriemom: Very funny. We'll get you a surgical mask. Hey, I remember now about your weekend...I'm sorry. I guess I have so much on my mind, I forgot!
Happy girl, Zebra, K and Flowerseed: Thanks for your warm wishes. Regardless what happens, I'll be glad it will soon be over with. It's been a long, tough battle and next I will be focusing my attentions onto the Personal Injury lawsuit.
Catnip =^^=
