I would love to participate in this- but my OW was in my home, in my bed, with my H. It no longer feels like my home.
If I didn't live in such an expensive part of the country, I would buy another house and sell this one lickety split. But we cannot afford a new home, despite the huge amount of money we have made on this home.
NOnetheless, my home is where I live with my kids-who mean the world to me. It is a relaxed. safe. comfortable neighborhood, now filled with lots of my kids' friends sleeping over. I feel safe here, and gradually the memories of OW stealing my home are getting better.
And we are making new memories here every day.
I loved hearing details from you all-
But in particular, CD, I am so happy to hear you are well, happy, and on to law school. It sounds as if things are going well. Please email me when you can-- if law school permits. I envy your distance from OW and OC and the ability to start afresh. You certainly deserve it. And in your honor, I will humbly abstain from any sick lawyer jokes.
YOur homes all sound great, large and small, with love and happiness. Thanks for all you sharing. <small>[ September 06, 2002, 07:43 PM: Message edited by: unhappy wife ]</small>

OK, I haven't had a chance to take those pics of our home for my photo page where I already put pics of our vacation home.
So...here goes:
We live on 2 acres a couple of miles out of town. Our yard is about 1 acre, with the rest being woods, and is mostly level, but has never been landscaped the way I want, although I have put in some nice flowerbeds over the past few years. I'm working on doing the rest, though!
When you come to our house, you go up the drive and turn to park toward the house. As you go into the house, you are in a small entryway. It has double doors to the coat closet on the right, a door to the utility room directly in front, and a double-door sized opening to the left, which leads to the den (which used to be our garage). There is a brick step leading down to the den, which is 27' x 20'. The walls are painted a deep rust color, the window and door trim are all painted a cream color, and the floor is vinyl that looks like oak hardwood flooring....very easy upkeep! To the left are 12' of windows, and there are 2 other windows on the wall directly across with a 90" wide bookcase unit in between. Above the bookcase unit is a signed print of quails, with a small figurine of a birddog pointing at 3 quail in flight. On either side of that are a green silk viney type plant and some collectible whiskey bottles with hunting scenes on them. On the shelves are books, pictures of our family, a small concrete statue that I painted to look just like my beloved Cocker Spaniel that died in April, and other decorative items. My H's ratty old recliner sits to the left side of the bookshelves.
In the far left corner is a silk magnolia tree, and in the center of the room are my sofa and loveseat, both covered in navy denim w/narrow rust and cream stripes, sitting at right angles to each other, with enough space to walk between them. In front of the sofa is an oval oak coffee table on a cream/rust/blue oriental-type rug.
Behind the sofa is space to walk through and an oak sofa table against the wall underneath a signed print of pheasants. Above the print is a magnolia swag. Next to the sofa table is a small bookshelf to hold my computer supplies, and then my computer desk. The lamps in the room are all brass.
On your right, as you come into the den is the original brick wall of the house. In the center of the wall is the back of the chimney, which has a gas log fireplace mounted in front of it. My BiL is supposed to come over and build a hearth for it, and then we will build a mantle surround. Between the chimney and the far right corner of the room is a built-in entertainment center which holds the 36" TV and has hidden storage for tapes and other items.
On the other side of the chimney is another entertainment center that holds the CD system. Over this is a print of a fish, with a 30" tall statue of a fisherman holding up his catch standing on top of the entertainment center. I have a cute picture of a gentleman and lady fish framed and sitting on top of the entertainment center, also, along with a candle lamp.
To the right of that entertainment center is the brick step leading to the rest of the house. It leads into a small hallway. Directly in front of you is a door to the back yard, the utility room door is on the right, and the door to the kitchen/dining room is to the left. As you enter the dining area, there is a 90" wide window to the right, hung with lace curtains and a rose-colored valance. To the left and facing the room are two pantry closets with stained louvered doors. The dining table is a large oval oak table, and the china cabinet is oak with leaded glass window in the doors. At the far end of the room is the kitchen area, with oak cabinets and cream color countertops. The wallpaper is blue/rose floral pattern on a cream background, and a coordinating print beneath the stained chair-rail. The floors in every room of the house, except for the formal living room are the same as the den.
To the left of the dining area is the formal living room. The walls are paneling painted a cream color. The carpet is beige, and the sofa is a blue/mauve/green floral. The sofa faces the fireplace, and flanking the fireplace are two "country blue" wingchairs. In front of the double window, (which is hung with lace curtains and a coordinating print valance) is my old round dining table, which is covered with a floor-length rose-colored tablecloth and a lace tablecloth overlay. On this table, as well as the mantle over the fireplace, I have a number of my treasured antique family photos. I put a small Christmas tree decorated with crystal beads, gold cherubs, and pink roses on this table every year, with my ceramic village all laid out underneath.
On the cabinet TV, I have an old Victoria style lamp that belonged to my MiL, and photos of H and me as babies. I also have 2 pairs of my baby shoes there, as well.
Behind the sofa is an old-upright piano, which displays more of my antique photos. Beside the piano is a bassinette, which holds a few of my porcelain babies. Beside the door to the hallway is a bookshelf, which holds some more porcelain dolls, along with the Barbie collection I've started for our granddaughter.
As you enter the hall, to the right is the door to the kitchen. On the left is a large closet that is outfitted with a cabinet top and shelves. We keep our larger cooking appliances, such as breadmaker, rotisserie, etc., in there. We can just open up the folding doors and start cooking! On down the hall. To the right is my bathroom, with the oak vanity w/cream marble top. The wallpaper is blue, with a cream and white white floral pattern. I have cream tile around the beige-cream whirlpool tub, and all the faucets are brass. The vanity top is usually cluttered! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />
Directly across from the bathroom is one of the guestrooms. It is my "country farmhouse" bedroom. It has yellow wallpaper with a large rose and daisy print on it. The bed is my grandmother's old iron bed, painted white. It is covered with a family quilt that my mother made for me. It has multicolored pastel blocks, each embroidered with a family member's name and birthdates, along with dates of significant events in our lives. This embroidery is done in my mother's handwriting. The quilt is pieced together with forest green and rose colored fabrics. I made the double dust ruffle, which is a mini print in the same colors as the wallpaper for the bottom ruffle, and the top ruffle is forest green gingham check. The curtains are lace with drapes and valance being the gingham check. I've painted an old 4-drawer chest white, and will be painting some roses and daisies to climb up the drawers. The nightstand is white, and I plan to touch it up with some decorative painting, too. I have an old rocker that I will be painting forest green, and then applying a white crackle finish over that. The upholstery on the chair will be a large gingham check. I also have an antique sewing machine in there, and will be setting it up to look as if someone just got up from sewing for a minute. I found a calendar with old-timey advertising prints on it, so I framed a couple of those in forest green frames and placed them atop a shelf/peg unit. On the pegs are hanging a couple of old-fashioned looking dresses. I still have quite a bit of work to do on this room.
The next room is my "old world" guestroom. The walls are "frottaged". I painted them a yellowy-cream color, and then mixed some lt. brown paint w/glaze, rolled that over the first color paint, stuck light-weight plastic dropcloths onto the walls, rolled over the plastic with a clean roller, and then pulled the plastic off. The walls look like wallpaper! On the floor is a burgundy oriental-type rug, placed at an angle. On top of that is a king-sized bed, with a burgundy/gold/green plaid dustruffle, and burgundy comforter w/gold/beige roses. The sheets are a coordinating goldy-beige/burgundy/green stripe. I made the headboard, which is upholstered with the striped sheet, and I used the plaid skirt from another dustruffle to gather up and stuff a tube that goes across the top and down the sides of the headboard. Between the striped upholstery and the tube, I put burgundy cording.
Beside the bed is a round table (in front of a window) with a floor-length burgundy tablecloth overlaid with a beige crocheted cloth. On top is an antique lamp with a fringed shade, an ivory "French-style" telephone that my D found at a yard sale, and a decorative bowl of poupourri. On the other side of the bed is a small painted table, with a small gold lamp w/parchment shade that I topped with a narrow burgundy cord and tassel, along with an antique-looking clock that only cost $5. Between the table and the wall is a silk ficus tree. Over the table, I have a classic print in a gold frame, with a diagnonal gold-framed mirror beneath.
To the left of the table is another window. Both windows are covered with drapes made from the striped sheets, with creamy semi-sheers beneath. The valance are the same print as the comforter, and are done in sort of an Austrian shade style.
To the left of that window is a chair, slipcovered with the sheet fabric, with a pillow covered in the valance fabric. Over that is a carved wood shelf and another classic print in a gold frame.
The dresser is a dark stained wood (but I plan to do something to it...just don't know what, yet!) It has a tapestry runner in the burgundy, beige, green colors. On top of that is a topiary, with a verdigris-looking cherub statue beside it (only cost $7!), a jewelry box in the center of the dresser, and 3 wrought-iron candlesticks intertwined with silk greenery and burgundy candles.
The master bedroom is beige with a beige, green and cranberry comforter and green dustruffle. The furniture is honey pine. It needs redoing, but I'll have to finish all my other projects, first! I've been toying with the idea of giving it a "log cabin" look, since the furniture is sort of rustic country looking. The master bath is teeny-tiny, with a small vanity, toilet and 4' shower. I would really love to build a new master suite all across that end of the house and convert the current master bedroom into a sitting area/office, but that ain't gonna happen, says H.
I love hearing about everyone's homes...maybe we ought to start a decorating ideas thread! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Our house is yellow with white trim, wood siding on the front, i have jasmine planted by the front porch and a beautiful ficus tree that was once my mothers (I brought it home after my mother passed away, along with one of her rose bushes. We have a double front door and as you enter the entry there are oak floors that go into the diningroom and kitchen. Our house is filled with memories- the furniture passed down from my grandmother and mother and other antiques that i have picked up along the way. I am an advid junker- garage sales, flee markets, thrift stores--love the finds. I have decorated with dark green carpet and plenty of beautiful area rugs. I love wall paper and color from an era passed. We have 5 bedrooms and 2 full baths upstairs. Our room is quite large with the closet area almost as big as the bedroom itself, which holds a white iron and brass bed and my grandfathers tapestry chair and tiffany style lamp with glass beads, very delicate. in one of the front bedrooms, i had a stain glass window designed and installed by pops--he only installed. it is beautiful --vines with flowers in a lavendar shade, my daughters room picks up the colors. in the upstairs hall we installed a sky light and also had stain glass made in my colors greens, reds, some blues. in more victorian design, the top of the stairs we removed the old iron railing, and in place pops built a half wall about 4 foot high or so with to rectangle cut outs and installed more stain glass there, it really lightens up the area. I love to hang old quilts on the walls, and am an avid angel collector, anything with wings especially cupies. the downstairs you have the entry and if you turn to the right we have the dining room and to the right again is the kitchen, straight ahead of the entry is the living room and to the left of that pops office and a bedroom ending with a bathroom. we have a large backyard that use to be filled with fruit trees, apricots, plums, lemons, and a couple others that i dont remember, pops decided they were too messy so down they came and nothing has been planted since, kind of looks like the california desert back there now. we do have a ground level trampoline that the kids love. our house is full of projects started and i need to go through each room and get rid of lots of stuff (i have a hard time parting with things) but most people when they walk in say what a warm feeling they get, it is very homey, espeacially at Christmas with the fire going and all the greenery and decor--I do tend to go a bit over board--did I say i have a whole walk in closet just filled with decorations??!! I love reds and greens. full house

Hello, Well, after reading everybodies it seems that mine might be the smallest. I hope to have a house some day!
It is a three bedroom townhouse. You walk in the front door right in the living. If you go straight the stairs are there to the upstairs and to the left is the living room. In the living room, there is a big screen t.v., the computer, some toys, and two coaches. Next is the kitchen where there is a table and a toy box filled with toys. There is a half bath and the stairs that lead down to the basement.
The basement is half finished where you have the kids play area, another t.v. and another computer.
The upstairs has a bathroom and just a little ways down the hall is the baby's room and across from it is my bedroom. I have a king size bed and the bassenet that I have not put away yet. The girls room has two beds One is a blues clues bed and the other is pokeman.
Small but cozy. We also have two dogs and a cat, definely need a bigger place! Anybody want a dog! Bob, the cat, looks like a small dog!
