I have to ask. I have been dying to ask for so long. How does your name work? Is it like one surfer guy talking to another "You've had too much coffee, man." or are you a super hero like SuperMan, BatMan and TooMuchCoffeeMan. Lois Lane (or some such) is in trouble and you gulp a scalding hot triple espresso and dash off to her rescue at warp factor 10?
Others, how did you pick your names?
I used to be Mrs. Job (as in the Biblical story of Job, not as in Mrs. CareerWoman). My husband's affair came to light at the same time as he lost his job, he was going blind, they thought he had Multiple Sclerosis and they found a tumor in his face with a 50% chance of cancer. That was my old name, then I took a break from MBers and when I came back my old name wouldn't work. I had a shoe catalog in front of me and chose "MaryJanes" so I could still abbreviate my "handle" as MJ.
Peace, MJ

My H, Sailorman59, chose my name as he'd been to the site before I had. Tigger is one of my two favorite Pooh characters, and my H's favorite as well. The actual "Tigger" was taken or unusable, so he chose the ending as "ownership" of me (4=for and jdt are initials). As for my H's name, it all has to do with his job.
Love, Tigger

As for my nickname... its just that... my Nickname.
My sister and her friends gave me the nickname when I was about 20 yrs old. My name is Staci Lynne... and they thought that Stacia Lee sounded pretty cool.. so they dubbed me with the nickname.
I was the "cool" older sister that rode all the girls around in my Chevy Cavalier. There were many boys that were jealous and affectionately nicknamed my car the "slut-mobile."
A few years later, I met a girl really named Stacya Lee... it was interesting.
Years later, I still keep the nickname... I like it... My Dad calls me Icats, my name backwards, and my neice and nephew have called me Daci... But I have stuck with Stacia_Lee for 14 yrs... and plan to continue doing so..

Funny you should ask but even though I knew about TooMuchCoffeeMan, I did not pick the name because I identified with him, but because at the time I came on board to MB, I had been working the graveyard shift for some time and I was drinking enough coffee to wake up a bull elephant from his slumber. All my loved ones, and a few friends, told me I was drinking too much coffee, and hence I chose the name. Since I no longer work the graveyard shift, and do not drink massive amounts of java, maybe I should change my name to WayLessCoffeeMan.

I know I posted this before somewhere else....
I got my twiisted name quite by accident...but those that know me, say the name fits!
Many moons ago, when I was an internet newbie, I was trying to get an online name for yahoo....I tried (albeit unsuccessfully) for almost an hour and a half trying every nickname under the sun and the computer rejected it saying, "TAKEN...TAKEN...TAKEN..."
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Being the lovely frustrated person that I am, I started getting, shall we say.....AGGRAVATED!!!!!!
Finally, in an act of desparation, I sighed heavily and looked down at the floor...I saw a trash bag twisty.....being the smart a$$ that I am....I triumphantly typed twisty...but the old keyboard that I had, had the "I"'s stick and it turned out TWIISTY....knowing for sure that the computer would reject that, I shouted "HAH" at the computer....and much to my surprise (I really didn't want twiisty as a name!) the computer accepted it...rather than go through all that hell again, I chose to keep the name.
I've had it for almost 4 years now...and found that my love of sewing and cross stitching (twisty thread) and my love for tornadoes (twisters---I want to be a storm chaser when my kids are older and on their own!) and for those that know my twisted sense of humor...the name fits....I didn't ask for the nickname, but got one that suited me.
Soooooooo, that's the story of how I got my twiisted name....
Your loving twiisted sister, Twiisty

Ok, I just tried to post a kinda serious new topic on some advice that I need today, but when I went to post it, it didn't work....arrrrrrgh! I figured I wasn't supposed to post that question for now, so I thought I would try to lighten my mood, and reply to this one.
I tried another name b4 "autumnday" here on MB, but I always had trouble logging on with that name and password. Once I decided I wanted to post something, I tried to change my nic. to see if I could log on.
Nicnames were the least of my concerns at the moment, so I didn't put much thought into it. However, autumn is my fav. time of the year. If it's an autumn day these things are true: school is back in session...lol!!; We can watch football on Sat, Sun, and Mon if we so wish; We can sit out on the patio, enjoying all my gardens without being swarmed by mosquitos, aka our state bird; the air is so crisp, the skies so high, and blue, and the trees are so beautiful; We can add a blankie to the bed again; We can enjoy Sat. night bonfires in the backyard without being attacked by the afore mentioned mosquitos; We can start having fires in the fireplace again; We can rake leaves, and then get to smell the wonderful autumn scent of burning leaves when my husband burns them on Sat & Sun, (during half time, or after the game, of course!). Ok, you guys get the point!!
Last but not least, my oc is due on an autumn day, and I found that kind of ironic.
I may change the name though, I don't really like it and I think it sounds like the name of a 70's stripper!

Dang! Why did I say the word 'song'? now Harry Nilsson's 'Lime in the coconut' is back with a vengeance and playing inside my head once more. Somebody just shoot me please ARGGGHHHH!!!! .

Nah...no need to shoot you, maybe just get you some decaf! What the heck song are you talking about anyway? You must be older than me if I don't recognize the title ...yehhhh, because I feel so old!!!
Btw, I enjoyed reading your nicname response, because I always wondered about your name too. When I first posted a cpl. months back, I recalled seeing the time stamp on a few of your posts to me. Seems like 1 or 2 were in the middle of the night. I pictured you up late at night, guzzling coffee and typing away. It made me smile.
As for me, I think I've had more than enough coffee this morning, baby think's he's auditioning for Lord of the Dance !!

I sang that lime in the coconut song to my kids when they were sick with the stomach bug and they got such a kick out of it, and laughing!
But I have no idea what the heck it was about when that song was popular, in the 70's? Do you?

AD maybe you remember the song 'Everybody's talking at me' from the movie Midnight Cowboy starring Dusting Hoffman and Jon Voigt. Harry Nilsson wrotte that song.
Ok everybody, since I can't get rid of that damned song, I might as well share my misery with y'all:
Coconut by Harry Nilsson
Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime His sister had another one, she paid it for the lime She put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot' togeder she put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot' up. She put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot' togeder put de lime in de coconut, call de doctor woke him up, an' say
Doctor! Ain't der notin I can take, I say Doctor! to relieve dis belly ache, I say Doctor! ain't der notin I can take, I say Doctor! To relieve my belly ache?
I put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot togeder, put de lime in de coconut, I drink 'em bot' down, I put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot' togeder, put de lime in de coco nut, call de Doctor, woke him up an' say
Doctor! Ain't der notin I can take? I say Doctor! To relieve my bellay ache. I say Doctor! Ain't der notin I can take? I say Doctor! And he say Lemme get dis straight
You put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot togeder, put de lime in de coconut, you drink 'em bot' up. You put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot' togeder, put de lime in de coconut, call de Doctor, woke him up, an' say
Doctor! Ain't der notin I can take, you say Doctor! To relieve your belly ache, you say Doctor! Ain't der notin I can take, you say Doctor! You such a silly woman!
Put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot' togeder, put de lime in de coconut. Den you feel better. Put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot down. Put de lime in de coconut, an' call me in da mo-o-o-ornin'.
{c:REPEAT ONCE FROM START, THEN:}
Woo Woo, ain't der notin I can take, I say Woo Woo, to relieve my belly ache, I say Doctor! Doctor! ain't der notin I can take, I say Yaah Yaah! To relieve my belly ache.
Put de lime in de coconut, drink 'em bot togeder {c:go on and fade}

Alright, now this is getting to me. I have to hear that song, to see if I recognize it! If it's from the 70's I'm sure I've heard it, but Harry Nilsson doesn't even ring a bell...who the heck was he, and did he sing anything else??

So, we must have been posting at the same time. The song sounds vaguely familiar, why didn't you put it to music though, so I could be sure!?!
"Midnight Cowboy", hey? Oh boy, Hoffman and Voigt are 2 of my fav. actors, but I can't remember what that movie was about. Think you could explain it?....ROFLMP(pregnant)AO!!

That is one of my all time favorite songs. Another all time favorite is the pina' colada song, and since the A gives new meaning because that is one of the things I really wanted was for H to want to share fun things with me. Thanks for writing down the lyrics to the coconut song. We have it on a CD or two...I think one is a kids CD the other is like beach tunes.

Thinkin' I should change my nicname to "Ditzy"!! Now I'm really confused. After looking at the movie link, don't think Glenn Campbell did the soundtrack, Wflower...are you talking about "Rhinestone Cowboy"? 4T&NS...Pina Colada song? Don't know that one either, but now I can't get Jimmy Buffet's "Margaritaville" out of my mind!!! Look what you started, TMCM!!!
Btw, I definetly never saw "Midnight Cowboy", but now I'm curious.

That song is an anthem to BS's everywhere:
Him by Rupert Holmes
Over by the window, there's a pack of cigarettes Not my brand, you understand, sometimes the girl forgets She forgets to hide them, I know who left those smokes behind She'll say, OH he's just a friend And I'll saw, OH i'm not blind to
Him, him, him What's she gonna do about him She's gonna have to do without him Or do without Me, me, me No one gets to get it for free It's me or it's him
Don't know what he looks like Don't know who he is Don't know why, she thought that I would say what's mine is his I don't want to own her But I can't let her have it both ways Three is one too many of us She leaves with me, or stays with
Him, him, him What's she gonna do about him She's gonna have to do without him Or do without Me, me, me No one gets to get it for free It's me or it's him
WOOOHHHHH WOOOHHHHH (more wooh wooh's)
If she wants to, she can have 'em Just exactly how we once were It's goodbye to you and I Back to her and I without
Him, him, him What's she gonna do about him She's gonna have to do without him Or do without Me, me, me Not one gets to get it for free Time for me to make the girl see It's me or it's Him, him, him What's she gonna do about him She's gonna have to do without him Or do without Me, me, me
