I love reading the really old posts from the first members.It's like pearing back in time to the primordial mysts of Infidelity.

Not much has changed but I am glad to see A's and marriages from A's FAIL.I will always hope for that each and every time no matter who comes along here to try and be MB material.Too late!

I guess I will have to add Pittmans "Lies" to my huge stack of Infidelity books I have read.Just to be sure I have covered everything before I move on,as they say.

Considering that nearly 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce regardless of an A, I think it would have to be factored into the equation.

A couple of the "12 reasons" could apply to the demise of any marriage.

Romance. Many, many marriages are born out of romance. Couples engage and marry sometimes in a matter of months, never getting to know each other. The famous Las Vegas marriage for instance...some of which last only a few days.

Divided loyalties. Spouses have their own circle of friends and family. Sure, they overlap but, once the marriage starts going south, friends and family choose sides rather quickly.

Surely there are better statistical studies out there which have tracked more than a measly 100 couples?

100 couples is a good start but I would not consider that concrete evidence.

Since marriage to an affair partner would obviously be a seond marriage, you would have to compare the divorce rate for these couples to that for second marriages in which the parties met after the divorce of the previously married partner or partners.

Her research is available in book form For Better or Worse. I don't recall if she reported on how seond marriages among affair partners fared, or just how many of those there were among the families she followed.
