Yep... "I love you, too."
There was no guessing at the words. No wondering if I imagined it.
We were in church to see the Power Team... I was looking at him and the boys... such a wonderful sight to see a dad w/ his boys on Father's Day... and to see how much they love each other... and he said "What?"
I said, "I just love you." He said, "I know you do. I love you too." A squeeze of the hands our arms touching as the head of YS rests on them both... and I have to wipe away some tears!
Hugs to all... have a great day... I have to work today... staff development... so I won't have computer access until later tonight.
Cali

Wow, I'm really jealous.
I have stopped saying "I love you" as he leaves the house, or whenever, because he doesn't answer back and that just hurts too much.
I have a card from last valentine's day, that just shows that he really did love me. I look at that when the fog is too much.

Bgentle--- I know it hurts to say I Love You when the person you say it to doesn't respond, but say it anyways. Make sure everyday he knows how much you love him! Back before I got married, my now H telling me everday I love you helped me realize who the really important person was in my life. If you can't say it, stick little notes in places he will find them that say I love you, at least you are still getting your point across.
Cali - I'm happy for you. It does feel wonderful to hear those words, especially if you haven't heard them in a long time. I got to hear them again for the first time in a long time last Wednesday, and they were the most beautiful words ever spoken to me, felt more wonderful than the first time he told me them!

Cali:
I'm with you. I NEED to hear that from time to time from my W. She's still "uncomfortable" saying it, and so the last time was a while ago now. I tried to get one out of her this evening, and failed. She simply squeezed my hand in response to my ILY this evening. I had come home from work to be with her when I needed to stay late to get a map finished. So, now I'm supposed to work on the map now that she's asleep. (and here I am posting!). She'll be out of town the rest of the week. At least she said she was glad I came home. I guess I should be glad for that much. But instead I'm down again because no ILY
I'm happy for you, though! They are truly three wonderful words in combination!

Hello Cali,
You don't know me.. I'm from P/C boards. Your thread caught my eye.
I could totally relate.
The first glimmer of our breakthrough happened at church too.
H and I began to attend church together shortly after d-day. Even in the midst of our most turbulent times we would sit in church with our children between us. No-one would even know we had a fight the night before and weren't even speaking.
After months of just being in the same pew together we began sitting next to each other. And then one wonderful day he grabbed my hand during the sermon.
I remember feeling a huge wave of love and relief. It was like seeing a light at the end of a very very long tunnel.
Congratulations on your breakthrough. A recovered marriage is far better than one that just idles along.
Good luck, Z.

Thank you all...
I continue to be amazed and awed by God's grace and favor, though I guess I really shouldn't be.
My H is teaching summer school at his old worksite and while I was at a different worksite, I was not anxious or uneasy... it's like I am actually living again... not waiting for the other shoe to drop...
You are all wonderful people and this site has been a Godsend to me...
Hugs to all, Cali
