Hi All,

I need a little help here.

I've noticed that some of the MB'rs have a link on their signature line to connect to "my story" or other posts. Since my story is different than most MB'rs, I'd like to include that link in my signature line, so I don't have to give a synopsis to "qualify" my opinion on a subject. (I'll have to go to old, old posts in Recovery to find it, but I think it is still there.)

Anyway, I'm not a tech wiz and just barely dangerous on the computer, so could someone tell me how to do that? I looked in the profile update, but I just don't know how to add the link.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
my move

{URL=http://copy_paste_link_here]My Story or whatever goes here[/URL}

Replace the two end brackets, { } with the square brackets, [ ]. I replaced them above so the code would show up.

I used the Instant UBB code to make mine in a post I never submitted and copied it into my sig-line. Hope this helps

my move,
I have been having troubles with the bells and whistles <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> also, so I am going to play a bit with Luki's instructions:

This cannot be as hard as it seems

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">{URL=http://copy_paste_link_here]My Story or whatever goes here[/URL}
</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial"> </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">
Anyway, I'm not a tech wiz and just barely dangerous on the computer, so could someone tell me how to do that? I looked in the profile update, but I just don't know how to add the link.
</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Luki,
If you have a minute, where do you post "your story" to link it on your signature? I am not techy either (dah <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> ) but I learned more today than I knew yesterday. Thanks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

This is fun.

Here is what my sig looks like. You edit it in view update/profile after clicking on the my profile link.

OK, bear with me. First you wrote

your story

on one of the boards, let's say, Recovery. Then you linked it to your signature, then you "corrupted" it so that the link just had a title name, not the long link that you actually go to???
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">{URL=http://www.marriagebuilders.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=37;t=021253]my summary[/URL] </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">And, how do you corrupt the link.

Iknow, I know, please have patience with me. Thanks for coming back. I am getting some of it.

One more question. Some of the long quotes are in bold, how do you do the bold without retyping everything in the little pop up box???

If I am driving you too crazy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> , just move on. I will understand and it won't hurt my feelings. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Find the post you want to use as your "story." Highlight the url in the address box at the top of the web browser.
Copy it (Ctrl-C)

Go to "My Profile" where you enter your signature line.
Put your info in. To get the link to your story in do this. Type

Then paste (Ctrl-V) the link from the post earlier followed by

When you are done it should look something like this

URL=http://www.marriagebuilders.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=37;t=021253]my story[/URL

EXCEPT at the beginning you should have a

[

and at the end you should have a

]

Save it and your done.

Thanks Chris and Luki. Gotta meet FWH for meeting with MC <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" /> so don't have time to play right now. Will try when I get back. thanks for all your expertise.

My Move, hope I didn't highjack your post. But I figured these questions would help you too.

Have a great day everyone. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

PS Chris, I see by your posts that you have a little experience here. This site is such a resource of knowledge and wisdom. Good to learn something new and not really A related. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> Thanks again.

Sorry for the confusion.

Did you guys get squared away with the link thing. What I did to get all the stuff to show up was replace the square bracket with a curly one. This corrupts(messes up) the UBB code so it doesn't get converted into an actual link.

I am a cut and paste addict. Chris's explaination is probably the best way to go about it.
