I thought I started this week but I reread the letter and apparently I start on 5 July.
Very good material to work at the university aren't I. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
I've been trying to cut down on MB time too. It's so addictive. H is re-reading Stephen King's "Salems Lot" and freaking himself out all over again so I have lots of time to do this at the moment because he can't put the book down.
BTW not only did I paraphrase "Tempted Woman" but I corrected all the spelling errors as well. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Yes it always helps to thouroughly read the contents of a letter. I tend to do the same thing. I'lls can and can make errors based upon assumptions

I thought it was amusing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
Making assumptions is something I have really learned not to do through all this. I spent 30 years making assumptions about what I thought Rob was thinking. Now I actually ask him. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

I thought that was part of the same joke (voice dripping with sarcasm).
He he he.
Another piece of useless information. The rest of the country call us Aucklanders "JAFA's".
The acronym stands for:
To Aucklanders - Just another fantastic Aucklander.
To the rest of the country - Just another f***ing Aucklander.
It's true. It really does go that deep.

One more piece of fascinating NZ info.
What is the largest cash crop?
What is the total population of NZ?
Now there's some useful geographic information.
Goodnight KiwiJ

Geez, you're a funny guy <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
Hmmm, population of NZ.
Don't laugh. 3.5 million.
And there are more sheep than people which the Australians find hilarious. Can't see the joke myself.
Gosh, what's our biggest cash crop. Marijuana? Joking, joking. Now I really will have to do some research. Tourism is our number one biggy. Believe it or not, people think the place is rather nice.
Let me think about this.
Jenny
Edited: did the research and the results are just like when I was back in school. Meat and dairy are still our number one exports. I personally would add wine to that list.
And we export some pretty good sailors to the opposition. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> <small>[ June 28, 2004, 12:02 AM: Message edited by: KiwiJ ]</small>

KiwiJ,
This... </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial"> And there are more sheep than people which the Australians find hilarious. Can't see the joke myself.
</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">...reminds me of something funny we used to say in college as a slander to a geographic area (usually in the country)
Never mind. Couldn't go through with it.
I'm either too nice or chicken.

One interesting thing about New Zealand is that if we ever have a nuclear holocaust, people in NZ are likely to be the only long term survivors.
I met Carl Sagan, the scientist and astronomer, 20 years ago, (during the cold-war) and asked him where the best place to live would be to avoid annialation. He said NZ.

Funny, Believer, but that is likely to be true. We have no nuclear energy at all in this part of the world and we're so d....ed far away from anywhere.
This afternoon I started reading a book which H brought from the shop (our bookshop) called "Good Morning USA" written by two NZers who travelled across the US a couple of years ago by train and then wrote a book about it.
Everything about the US was familiar to them from growing up with cowboy movies, TV, the songs, reading the books etc etc. And yet, everything was strange to them as well. They loved the Americans for their charm and openness and I started thinking how weird it is that every day (just about) I sit here and talk to you all from all over the big country that is the States.
I'll have to visit one day. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> We went to Europe via the East.

kiwi - You are very safe in NZ. So I hope to go there someday. I wanted to go there 20 years ago, but they would not take me. <small>[ June 30, 2004, 09:45 PM: Message edited by: believer ]</small>
