The reason I'm asking is because does Brown WANT you to take all joy or fun out of your life, or do YOU feel you need to do it in order to "prove" yourself.

Just a question. My dwh has little joy.....it's almost unbearable....and he feels this is his "pennance" for his sins. Unfortunately for me (and soon for him), I can't take his pennance for much longer.

Do you and Brown talk about your proof of yourself yet, or is it still to hard for both of you?

Just wondering, and you can tell me to zark off if you want. I do really, really like you both and am only asking out of concern.

Well, just took Murphy for his walk & dried him off and YEP ! : He shat in a circle again.

Well more of a semi-helix really. Perhaps the dog is trying to tell me something about the nature of DNA with his doodoo?

Bizarre. My dog curl's 'em off in geometric patterns. I should sell the story to The national Enquirer "The cause of Cr@p circles dicovered in England "

Substitute Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper for the coffee, GC, and I'm off to your house so we can discuss paint swatches for your re-decorating. WHEN YOU DO RE-PAINT, you are under strict obligation to us to scan the swatches in so we can approve colors and style. I can't wait to re-do your bachelor kitchen so you can have your curries in style!

OK, legitimate, serious question, is the "c" word a bad word?? (I am being very honest, and sincere here, NOT trying to be smarty-pants, just a bit confused)

Diet cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper! There's truly such an animal?

I'm down with that colorful Latin stuff, but my bedroom stuff is dark brown wood and I dig earthy colors too.

I'm taking the paint and stain off the doors, trim, windows, e'ything. Starting over. My walls aren't even primed, and the maple floors will be refinished. The room will be a blank slate, all by the sweat o' my brow.

Good about the Latin colors - it really never goes out of style, and is HUGELY classy.

How about since your br stuff is dark wood and nice light cafe au lat color for the walls? It would keep the room "warm" with the woods, but still airy....

quote:
My walls aren't even primed,

By primed, you mean white? The reason I'm asking is (from experience) the terra cottas and reds take a metric TON of coats if the walls are white. Now, since your house is older, are you needing to prime with RID just in case of mold?

You have Trader Joes or World Market up there, right? You'll find huge amounts of in-expensive decor there - the best is on their sale aisle - I got ceramic knobs for my slut red cabinet for .99 for 2. They are colbalt blue with yellow flowers. Couple those with the slut red cabinet (I've got to say it...I just can't say cabinet - it's the whole title thingy), and it looks very latin and rustic.

We have World Market here.

My walls are never-painted plaster, and last year we had the cracks taped and the walls skim-coated with drywall mud. It's wise to use primer on that stuff because it sucks up paint like a sponge.

Also put in a new ceiling (had to take down the textured ceiling, which just does not work in an 80yo house.

This is not a very idiot-like convo Kimmy.

How's that for idiocy?

Morning Idiots

I was settling down last night to chat to the nightshift when son kicked me off because he "needed" to use the computer. So, that's why I disappeared.

Sorry to interrupt Kimmy and GC, you can now carry on talking about your paint swatches. j/k GC your house sounds really nice and Kimmy your decorating ideas sound very cool.

Gray and Kimmi -
I live in a real dump, but have fixed it up to be beautiful. The new look is less is more, very spartan. I threw tons of stuff out, and rearranged and painted. And I did it all with practically no money.
People come and look at my place and can't believe how it has changed. I got lots of stuff from garage sales and even from dumpster diving. It is easy to do if you have the interest.

Kimi - Do you know how to make carne asada ranchero? I'm attempting it today. I have the thin sliced beef, and added oranges, lemons, garlic, and onions to marinate.

Believer, do I know how to make WHAT.....?

He he, that's a no. Although......I do make chilli using an American cookbook.

We cook all sorts of stuff here - Italian, Thai, Indian, Mexican, Pacific (lots of seafood), English, and NZ (which traditionally is baked (roasted) meat) and barbeques are a way of life all summer long.

I've looked at lots of cookbooks from the States and we cook most of what you cook and in the same way.

But you got me on the hasta la vistas.

Jen - Carne asada is real thin sliced beef in a marinade which you then barbecue and eat in a tortilla. Very delicious and low fat too.

My darlin' Idiots (specially Weaver, b/c this one WON'T give her bairn night-woogies) - I was asked for a song for today...now my MOM didn't sing this one to me...my DAD did, but still...he only knew the too-rah-loo-rah-loo-rah verse, but it was very sweet....and enough of a good memory for me to look it up when Z was little so I could sing it for him:

Over in Killarney
Many years ago,
M'mother sang a song to me
In tones so soft and low.
Just a simple little ditty,
In her good old Irish way,
And I'd give the world if she could sing
That song to me today.

Too-rah-loo-rah-loo-rah, Too-rah-loo-rah-li,
Too-rah-loo-rah-loo-rahl, hush now, don't you cry!
Too-rah-loo-rah-loo-rah, Too-rah-loo-rah-li,
Too-rah-loo-rah-loo-rahl, that's an Irish lullaby.

Oft'n in dreams I wander
To that bed again,
I feel her arms a-huggin' me
As she did back then.
And I hear her voice a-hummin'
To me as in days o' yore,
When she used to rock me to sleep
Outside our cabin door.

Okay Robby - weren't you the one who asked?

Believer - I don't make asada - I make guisada - different gravy. I use stew meat (beef tips) for it...the gravy is...um...richer, for lack of better words (at least the versions here are - you do realize that locations changes the versions so much in this cuisine?).

Would you please ask your roomie how to make a good mole sauce? That was about the only thing I didn't get to learn from my mil. She made chicken mole for our wedding feast - and I don't think I've had it that good ever since.

Okay, Kimmy, you just pulled me out of my usual lurkdom. Would you please, please, please post a copy of your recipe for carne guisada? This misplaced Texan has been wanting a recipe for this forever. Thank you so much. I already printed out a copy of your enchilada recipe. They just don't know how to make Tex Mex in the Pacific NW.

GC - two words -- Kilz primer.

NG & Kiwi & company - Your carne asade over there sounds like our fajitas. But maybe not. The only thing I know about mole sauce is that it has chocolate in it. (Now that'll bring Jelly running here
