Is that gambling? Or is there more? And what did you do to trigger it?

Yup it's the Scratch-off's
I think I triggered it b/c I said I was considering doing some ... out of desparation over the $$$ for christmas and the boys noy helping out (financially) ... I said I wouldn't but I could understand why he does do it. Well, in that few minutes he thought about it and then called me to transfer $ to our joint account for the payment for his unit's christmas party ... I stupidly transfered it. He called me later and sid what he did with the $. I felt as bad as him ... I'm suppoosed to protect him too ya know. We'll get through it. Not too long ago, he wouldn't have owed up to it until I found out and LB'd his silly A$$. It's getting better ... but still need the prayers you know.

Ok, I've been busy doing some research on complusive gambling. Pretty scary stuff! I pulled these Q's from the GA website:
1. Did you ever lose time from work or school due to gambling? 2. Has gambling ever made your home life unhappy? 3. Did gambling affect your reputation? 4. Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? 5. Did you ever gamble to get money with which to pay debts or otherwise solve financial difficulties? 6. Did gambling cause a decrease in your ambition or efficiency? 7. After losing did you feel you must return as soon as possible and win back your losses? 8. After a win did you have a strong urge to return and win more? 9. Did you often gamble until your last dollar was gone? 10. Did you ever borrow to finance your gambling? 11. Have you ever sold anything to finance gambling? 12. Were you reluctant to use "gambling money" for normal expenditures? 13. Did gambling make you careless of the welfare of yourself or your family? 14. Did you ever gamble longer than you had planned? 15. Have you ever gambled to escape worry or trouble? 16. Have you ever committed, or considered committing, an illegal act to finance gambling? 17. Did gambling cause you to have difficulty in sleeping? 18. Do arguments, disappointments or frustrations create within you an urge to gamble? 19. Did you ever have an urge to celebrate any good fortune by a few hours of gambling? 20. Have you ever considered self destruction or suicide as a result of your gambling?
Most compulsive gamblers will answer yes to at least seven of these questions.
You don't need to answer the questions. I just don't know a lot about it and I'm trying to educate myself.
More stuff:
Warning Signs Where to Get Help Outreach Programs Warning Signs of Compulsive Gambling For Help with Problem Gambling call 1-800-589-9966 Loss of control over amounts bet. Loss of control over frequency of wagering. Inability to meet financial obligations due to gambling. Mood swings at home, work or with friends when gambling fortunes away. Preoccupation with gambling during work or social events. Feelings of guilt or shame because of gambling. Inability to stop gambling. Compulsive gambling is a progressive behavior disorder in which an individual has an uncontrollable preoccupation with gambling. The gambling reaches a point where it compromises, disrupts, destroys the gambler's personal life, family relations and job. If you think that you have a gambling problem, then you probably do.
A person can become a problem gambler whether he or she is gambling on bingo or casino games, stocks or sports, real estate or the lottery, horse racing or dice, dog racing or cards, even pool or video games.
If gambling is a problem for you or for someone you know, there is hope and help.
Lots of things I didn't know.
Prayers are, as always, a given!

YAY! A real job. I have read about 300 pages of htis time. And this town is very messy! All those drinks and snacks. I think that you need a chief cook and bottle/dishwasher. I volunteer. Well, almost volunteer. My work for Crantinis, Thai Lovers (that's a drink!) or broken down golf carts (a shooter)
And I sing, too! Well, when you hear the sound of glass breaking, that is me singing at the top of my lungs. Very off key but lovin' it. BE scared, very scared. ANd I dance like a fool. To everything. All the time. Country, blues, ballroom, hip hop. Yah, I know, I am old but what the heck, eh?
So my 3 non-A related I'ville things?
1. WHen I first started back to work after my youngest DD was born, I was sooo tired that everything I did was on automatic. One day, I was at the bank with my eldest DD in the car. WHen I got back to the car, I looked in the back and baby DD and SS weren't there! I freaked out and opened the door in a panic looking for her on the floor as her car seat was empty. Thinking she had slid out of it and was unconcious or worse on the floor. Or thinking I had left the house without them. My eldest DD was looking at me like I was crazy. She said "what are your DOING??" I said where is DD? I can't find her. AAAHHHH! SHe said MOM, she is at daycare, we just dropped her and SS off." OMG, I didn't remeber anything! My family still razzes me about that one.
2. H and I had been doing a LOT of renovations. SInce we were new in the area and of course ran out of some supplies, we had to run out of here to go get them. after an hour or so, of trying to find this darn carpet place, we finally found it. When I jumped out, I looked down and I had my slippers and socks on. Not too bad, you say? Well, the socks were thick woolen work socks, UNMATCHED and different colours and my slippers? OMG they are bright, flourescent blue VELVET with sparkles and a big heel. I had to walk around the warehouse with those things on my feet with H laughing his face off and the salesman trying not to stare at my feet. THat is not to mention my pants. Old ones that were way too big and about 2 inches too short. RED in colour!
3. And the last. Okay, this happened a LONG time ago. (I was single) I was at a club, wearing a hot looking wrap around skirt with really sexy looking stiletto heels. At the end of the night, I went to pick up my purse on the floor. Now, my goal was to pick it up in a ladylike, graceful way without showing the world what I had on underneath. (Not much). BUT because the shoes were so high, I had to lean back to keep from falling on my face. Well, I overbalanced and fell on my a$$. So, there I am on the edge of the dance floor, with everyone walking around me leaving the club. ANd I am trying to figure out how to get up without the skirt opening to my waist. I sat there for a couple of minutes until my GF came over and asked what the heck I was doing? When I explained and after she stopped laughing hysterically she went and got some friends (male) of ours to come over. One on each arm, GF holding my skirt shut, and 2 behind pushing me up like a flagpole. You know starting at my shoulders and as I got vertical walking their hands down my back down to my butt at the end.
Okay does that qualify me?

((((((((((((((((((((LINY&BROWN))))))))))))))))))))
LINY is being honorable and telling the truth. Yeah! Now when he gets that higher power thing going, he will beat it.
FF- I read about your husband going to the ER yesterday, and meant to post. Glad it turned out to be a scare. Sorry he has to do the stress-test, but a checkup is a good thing. Hopefully it is just stress. You both are in my prayers.
onlywords - Welcome to Idiotville. Robby is the mayor. I read your other post. On this thread we work on recovery and support, with lots of stupidity. RH is well loved here. Hope you didn't mind him announcing to the world your time of month.
But don't worry - the announcement only went out to the continental USA, England, South Africa, Canada, China, Afghanistan, New Zealand, and Australia.
Fighting - Welcome to Idiotville, Robby is the mayor,(although there may be a coup being plotted). Starz is on the rooftop somewhere in her sniper outfit defending us all.
Get a job.

The way I see it: G is just another escape mechanism: like alcoholism, or drugs, or sex addict, whatever. Regardless if there is a genetic connection or not (which I believe there is, but not enough research has been done) it is an ESCAPE from REALITY. When I have enough time under my belt in sobriety and all else is settled in our lives, I would like to do that research.
Thanks for the support robby!

I am the 411 answer lady who has the wrong answer to any question you may have. I can also sub as the short order cook as most of my idiot moments are in the kitchen. Would you like a tip on how to decorate your ceiling with spaghetti sauce?
LINY and Brown, I think it is amazing the way you handled this slip up.

LINY - F-AGAIN???? IS THAT ANYWAY TO GREET A NEW CITIZEN????????
Welcome F-AGAIN. Those were some pretty Idiotic things you did - you'll be quite comfortable.
Spider-Slayer is our chief cook and exterminator, but she has been slacking off lately.
Can we fire her Mayor?
What we really need is a bartender and a shrink. Maybe one person could hold both jobs.
Robby - Thanks alot of the GA thing. I now find out that I might be a compulsive gambler, on top of everything else! Great. Why don't you go check out the NA site? or AA? or SA? I might qualify there too.

Hey FF. Decorating with food? No, thank you I wrote the book.
Would you like to know how to make burnt toast on each and every toaster in the entire world. Even if it is set to the lightest setting? And, the added bonus is, you get to smell burnt plastic as the knobs melt off. I put it down to my "electric" personality. Can't wear a watch either. THey stop working in a couple of days.

faa--you're in....now get to work!!!! (Sorry---stepping on the mayor's toes!)
FF--thanks--thanks--we need ALL the support we can get for this thing--it's so difficult. I don't want to get into ALL the details, but: They (scratch-offs) are EVERYWHERE; it's not illegal; you can DO them anywhere; the general public doesn't have the same understanding of G as other things; etc. Yeah, we handled it pretty good afterwrds. But that's th3e key: AFTERWRADS. I shouldn't have let it happen to begin with. I'm not gonna beat up myself after the fact like i did so many times, but, just stating a fact. And all of this G stuff? Ultimately, besides some horrible choices on my part, I believe, was the underlying reason for my EA. Yes, other factors, but O/C definitely has to do with all of it.
OK, now I'm all over the place. Brunch by brown is ready, so I'll see you all later!!!!!

Where did everyone go? Yikes, I took some time to do some housework (I knew that was a mistake), and the whole town evacuated.
