I was working at McDonalds and the soft serve sundae machine was empty. So I took the tub in the back to refill it with the liquid that makes the ice cream. Well, normally you take the stuff and fill in at the machine but I thought I would save time and fill the tub right in the walk in refrigerator. So I take a step with this very heavy, full tub and yup slipped. The tub of sticky liquid ice cream dummped all over me! My manager decided it would be funny if I worked the rest of the day like that, so he wouldn't let me change I worked the lunch rush in a hot grill with stick gooey dried up ice cream all over me!

Reading all this stuff on the boards lately about character flaws and my recent confession to being a FWS, has caused me to re-examine nearly every relationship I have ever had. Jelly, I think you hit on the head for me when you said you have matured. That is exactly where I feel I finally am. I think in my 30's I was extremely immature when it came to relationships. I never had good life examples and really did not do much self examination. So, my question is do the character flaws go away when you realize what they are, own up to them and stop doing those things?

Hey RH, how are you today? Glad to know the town is not deserted. I am filling in for a department that answers the public lines here so i get to sit at my desk and pretend I am working. I also get to do my I'ville job and answer questions about things I know nothing about! Wow, talk about reality and cyber worlds colliding!

FF,

Thanks for asking. Better than yesterday.

you said:
quote:
So, my question is do the character flaws go away when you realize what they are, own up to them and stop doing those things?

I don't think the character flaw 'goes away,' but by being aware of it, it is easier to keep under control. I think that is why some people are able to not have A's, because they are aware of that vulnerability.

Our MC asked me last week if I thought I would ever have another A. I told her flat out NO! Why? Because I never stop reminding myself how much damage I did to myself, to my M and children. Not only that I am now aware of the difference between liking a trait or characteristic about another person and being committed to a real relationship. Does that make sense? Whenever I find myself being amused or think another man has a cute quirk, I remind myself that that is all it is. I remind myself on a regular basis what I love about my H, even though it is hard to do some days. So I guess this is part of owning up to my own flaws and dealing with them in a more mature fashion?

Am I just babbling?

(Good job, keep it up.)

quote:
Am I just babbling?

I wouldn't use the word babbling, but you can and did.

Anyway, have a great day, I'm leaving work now.
