I have sent this out every year since we moved here. I made it up one not-so-cold-Christmasy-night. Merry Tex-mas...ahem...I mean CHRISTMAS, Merry Christmas, ya'll.

Coastal Christmas

by ME

On my first Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

A pelican in a palm tree

On my second Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my third Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my fourth Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my fifth Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

5 GOLDEN SUNSETS...Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my sixth Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Six dolphins dancing, FIVE GOLDEN SUNSETS...Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my seventh Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Seven scallop shells, six dolphins dancing, FIVE GOLDEN SUNSETS...Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my eighth Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Eight ferryboat rides, seven scallop shells, six dolphins dancing, FIVE GOLDEN SUNSETS...Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my ninth Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Nine jumbo shrimps, eight ferryboat rides, seven scallop shells, six dolphins dancing, FIVE GOLDEN SUNSETS...Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my tenth Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Ten morning beachwalks, nine jumbo shrimps, eight ferryboat rides, seven scallop shells, six dolphins dancing, FIVE GOLDEN SUNSETS...Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On my eleventh Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Eleven gulls a'laughing, ten morning beachwalks, nine jumbo shrimps, eight ferryboat rides, seven scallop shells, six dolphins dancing, FIVE GOLDEN SUNSETS...Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

On the twelfth Coastal Christmas, my true love gave to me:

Twelve crabs for boiling, eleven gulls a'laughing, ten morning beachwalks, nine jumbo shrimps, eight ferryboat rides, seven scallop shells, six dolphins dancing, FIVE GOLDEN SUNSETS...Four Ridley sea turtles, three fishing lures, two manta rays, and a pelican in a palm tree

Robby: It was you who fired me, don't you remember? Thanks. I'm collecting unemployement now, it's not as much as I made before (doing nothing), but...

Ok and since everyone is telling idiot stories lately, here's mine. Last week I had to make feed for the animals. Well, I ran all the corn and grain through and was unloading when I realized I didn't have the screen in it. (Therefore the feed was too coarse and had to be reground. Wasted about an hour and a half redoing it. I was SOO PEEVED!!!)

Jelly: You make me laugh too, but you also make me think too hard (since I don't always get your humor.) Had a great day not at work today. Got the roof to the point where we are ready to put the steel on. Unfortunately, the steel won't get here til next week and it's supposed to snow Sunday. Arrggghhhh.

AW: Sounds like you're doing a wonderful job welcoming Aussie back. Best of luck!

FF: No problem!

YL: Because they're kids.

LINY: I can't believe you told us that Brown story and the LIE (I assume it was on the LIE). Either way if I ever told a NOW story anything close to that, she'd kill me (mentally first and then physically).

RH, you don't get me? What's not to get?

Kimmy, that was cute, I sang it all the way to the end.

Chinese tonight, # 17, whatever that is. It's the only thing I will eat there. I'm a very picky eater, it kills my H.

AW, I'm happy your H is home, sounds like you are taking great care of him. {{{{A&AW}}}}

FF/LINY: Here's a tip on renting. With all my renters, I make the rent due the 1st, give 3-5 days grace. But then if they pay on or before the 1st I give a discount. Say if rent is $375, they get a $25 discount if paid by close of business on the 1st or earlier. It's amazing how many people now pay no later than the 1st. The other thing, when you tell them something, there has to be consequences and you have to be willing to follow through.

Example: 1st marking period my boy didn't make the honor roll (average all B's). (My two D's both made distinguished honor roll - all A's.) It's not because the boy is stupid, he is lazy, especially when we let him. Well, he has been whining for a PlayStation 2. So I said, make the Distinguised Honor Roll and it's yours. Well, 2 weeks before he says "Dad, what if I mess up in one class, do I still get the PS2?" I said, guess you'll have to wait until next marking period then. W goes online checks to see he has a 74 in one class, A's in the rest. So he was a test the next week, and does well. But his report card is all A's except for one which is an 89. So do you think he got the PS2? Not from me. He has to wait until he gets all A's next time. Couple of people at work called me a hard<<butt>>, but you know what? He learned his lesson and is busting his heiny to make sure he gets all A's next time. If I'd have given in, what lesson would that have taught him? It's all about being consistent (well, maybe not all, but alot).

FF: I'm doing well. I always do better when I'm doing physicall labor (work at home or on farm) instead of mental labor (my day job). And yourself?

Robby: Darn, thought I could fool you. Guess I'll have to give back those unemployment checks before LINY sues my <<butt>>.

Jelly:
quote:
What's not to get?

Sometimes you write stuff and I don't know if its a joke, response to someone else or for real. Like your question the other day about what was your favorite position. I expected it to be something where you bossed people around. And then when you said you were a porn star, I didn't get that either until you explained it. It's nothing critical, just me being an idiot I suppose. Got your email. Thanks. NOW was just saying that she hadn't heard back from you. So I told her what you told me. Made her feel better, then she went for a soak in the tub. Hmmm, maybe I should go peek in on her.

Jelly: One other thing I didn't get was, what was the reference to "Concurrent"? Was that in response to one of Robby's links?

Robby: I liked the urinals links.

Hi RH--are you back from peeking in on NOW? Tell her to pay us a visit now and then, I miss her sense of wacky humor. I am doing pretty well today. I have been continuing to read on this site and get some insight into myself. I continue to use every ounce of patience i have knowing it will take my H a while to get through all this. We had a good night last night and I am learning to appreciate those little efforts he is making. I know having been where he is that it is a herculean effort to be loving when you got bashed in the gut by your S. So to put it in RIF's words, we are doing great. Thanks for asking.

Yes I think LINY just won the Idiot of the decade .. for telling that pee pee story. J/K The funny thing he was (is) so amazed I was able to do it in the front seat of the car and not get anything on myself and not spill a drop. Just another reason he thinks I'm amazing woman. (Will my talents never cease?!?!?) In my defense ... has anyone ever been to a Billy Joel concert here on Long Island?!?!? It is where "Billy the kid" is from (Oyster Bay, LI(NY). The traffic moves at like 2 inches an hour.

I wait to a Duran Duran Concert and made the mistake of drinking some wine on the way there (a very idiot thing to do). I had no idea - I had never been to a concert before. I had to go to the "potty" so badly. Then I saw the line in the ladies room line (wrapped around the whole Colesium). I had to stump my foot on the floor to keep from just wetting my pants. Then some lady screams, "This little has to go real bad!!!!". And the line parted like the Red Sea and I was pushed to the front and into a stall in like 2 seconds. I swore that would never happen again (and after that I was willing to pee in a coffee cup in the middle of traffic going to the Nassau Colesium) (Not really and idiot thing to do after all).
