OK MBers !

I'm looking to book our FAMILY holiday for Christmas 2005 ! Hows that for an act of faith in recovery ?

I was wondering two things :

Can any of you folks recommend either a family friendly, HOT resort we can spend Christmas at OR a SNOW resort equally great for families at Christmas ?

Secondly

Any of you folks OWN such a holiday home you would be willing to rent to this recovering Brit family ?

Thanks folks !

Bob

Thats GREAT coach ! But it can get cold at Christmas ...hs been more than nippy on occasion the last coupla times we went.

We spent some christmasses in south florida these past few years and loved it BUT I want to either go somehere I don't need to take a sweater OR somewhere snowy !

Was thinking carribean or Hawaii type t'ing. Or a snowy place !

Hey Bob,

I have a big chunk of penninsula property on an island. No water, electricty or shelter, but plenty of time to take a class in igloo building and I do have a nice fire-pit and pile of chopped wood.

Got on ice auger to, so ya'll can catch your own supper.

What say????? Think squid would like it?

Oh you were looking for serious answers. Sorry can't help ya there.

I do think it would be cool to go to the mountains to a nice lodge on Christmas but never have, so no advice there either.

I did used to work in Reno, and Lake Tahoe (close by in mountains was a very, very nice place to go)

When I was planning my wedding we checked it out quite a bit for a winter ceremony and it was just so beautiful.

Colorado seems like a great Christmas holiday to me too.

Bob,
I'm an avid Internet researcher. Here's the first article I hit about places to visit at Christmas:

http://www.bestplaces.net/docs/studies/Holiday2004.aspx

These 2 look nice also:

Bob,
This place is wonderful:

I've been there in summer. It looks very nice at Christmas, too if you like to ski.

I've heard wonderful things about this place:

The Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs

Or maybe a Southern Caribbean Cruise with the port of departure being San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Hi Bob!

I have seen the Broadmoor hotel around Christmas time and it's absolutely beautiful! The decorations are breathtaking!

I recommend the Westin Resort and Hotel in Maui. They have a great swimming pool for the kiddo's and there is plenty to do in and around the area for both children and adults. The service there is impeccable!!

hubby's favorite place is st. maartin. took the whole family and gram and pops too. it was great.

now me personally---anguilla. not a darn thing to do but sit and sun and eat!!!!!!lol

all jokes aside---anguilla is for you and squid alone....very quiet island. st maartin is very family orientated...great island. i also love grand caymen and curacao.

let me know if i can help more

Westin Resort and Hotel in Maui

Chackler, looks lovely but its seven hundred bucks per night over Christmas. Thats ten thousand dollars with tax plus flights from the UK ( another $5000)and catering ( $1000?)

Sixteen grand for two weeks in the sun.

Mebbe I need to save a little !

The keys last Christmas cost me four grand flights, two grand accom and a grand catering.

Great value, but we done the keys to death for a while AND you can't guarantee the warmth.

* Colorado guys, that looks LOVELY, the Broadmoor. I've asked for prices.

* VSN, checking them out now thanks !

* weaver how VERY cool ! We have a holiday home in the Welsh mountains thats great escape too ! It has wate and stuff though ! I'd love to see it some day.

Checking our Lake Tahoe on travelocity.

Nikko, checking out accommodation and flights right now thanks !

Any more suggestions guys ?

Chackler, either. Tropical sun 1st choice for me and squid, snow for the kids, but we wouldn;t mind ! Just don't want 'in between' weather !

You can look into the Beaches family resorts...Turks & Caicos is supposed to be especially nice. Might be pricey for Christmas, but they are all-inclusive so all of your meals/drinks are covered.

Westin Maui is wonderful!! But the Kaanapali Beach Hotel is down the same beach...not as elaborate, but still nice, family oriented, and should be a bit cheaper.

What about that Disney Cruise Line? I think they have an exclusive island out in the carribian that they take you to.

If you go to Austrailia or New Zealand my hubby and I should go too - we can be your tour guides!!!

Nice place for families with lots of sun
Boscobel Beach

For snow
Telluride Ski Resort

Or anywhere in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, although I really liked Marquis Los Cabos Resort
