I have a name/address of an individual and I need to know if he is the owner of the property. Does anyone know where I can get this type of info on the net? I know the street address, city, state and county but I can't seem to find any 'free' resources out there to tell me who is the owner of this property.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Most counties have a GIS web site where you can look at tax values, easements, and name of property owner. Lots of good stuff.

Figure out what county your address is in, and then google for "XYZ county GIS web" or some such. Many city-hosted web sites will have GIS too.

Either the Assessor's office or the Recorder's office. Call the local courthouse if you cannot find it online (my county is not online but the next one is). Depending on the size of the county they may be able to give you that information on the phone. If you have trouble getting the info and need help, Let me know and I can probably find the info out for you (of course, gratis).

Also try Intellis....it's like $39.95 but
gives a LOT of info.

Also look on grantee/grantor in your county and put in the individual's names. This is free. You can write down the document numbers and then go down to the county and look directly at the doc and even make copies. Most of these docs have lots of info, stuff that is public records.
