Not really...but something you said on another post got me to thinking about something that's been running in my "background" for a couple of days nows...
You were making a case for marriage...that those who do not marry cannot expect the protections afforded by it...
I expanded this a bit...to consider adherence to a rigid personal code..
First off...humans are not omniscient...incapable of predicting the effects and outcomes of their choices with absolute certainty.
So, when we take a rigid position, we must be willing to accept that there may be some unforeseen and possibly nasty consequences related to that choice.
Yet, there are many who remain genuinely perplexed at these ugly outcomes and cry out to God "Why me?", when they very well be the unexpected result of their own choice.
They (we) sometimes can and sometimes cannot see the connection.
